My 12v Cigarette plug-in wont work, even though I get 12.02 volts on the wires AND the actual piece, it doesn't make sense. If I have voltage leading to it, shouldn't it work? I just got a new GPS and am about to go on a road trip in a few hours, but I cant use it, any clue whats going on? I am about to go into town today and buy a new plug-in, and if it doesn't work, rewire it.

Any ideas of why it wont work? I somehow fixed it but now its broken again. Whenever I plug in my splitter, it works, but when I plug something into the splitter, it stops working. When I plug something into the plug in (not splitter, like my phone charger or the cig lighter), it wont work.

i think this is in the wrong thread but idc. try this... check your connectors within the cigarette lighter. sometimes as the lighter is used a lot the little "springs" inside will wear down and not be so tight against the device you have installed in the lighter. or try some diaelectric grease (VERY VERY LITTLE OF IT THOUGH) and put it on the tip and outer connector of your device you are connecting. Also check for fuses within the plug make sure that the device you are plugging in isnt shorted out or has a blown fuse. my secondary lighter in my car has it where it only works with the ignition turned to on. acc, or any other mode but on will not make the secondary lighter port get power. hope this works
