fuggnore Posted August 9, 2010 Report Share Posted August 9, 2010 okay, so i got a KDC HD545U. its hooked up to my stock speakers and tweeters. i have the bass set on -8 (low as it will go) but im still getting bass outa my speakers at high volume levels and its causeing distorsion. now im planning on running all the components and tweeters and shit through amps in the near future. my question is will running the speakers off that amp help reduce the bass through them or am i going to have to invest in a crossover or something to that matter? cqtama Posted August 9, 2010 Report Share Posted August 9, 2010 yes your amp will have a high pass filter allowing you to filter out the bass frequencies you don't want from your door speakers. its the opposite of the low pass filter you use on your sub amp. then you can put your HU settings back to flat since you wont have to worry about the bass coming out of the doors. I got 2 of them for my speakers and they work great. and the distortion could be that you are putting the volume almost to max. i believe most Kenwood HU go up to 35 yes 35 is correct. when i had my speakers powered by the headunit i was only able to put it up to 26 with the bass on -2....little did i know that the preouts dont clip until volume 34 (settings flat) so when i got an amplifier for my mids and highs speakers, i tuned the gains at volume 34.
