setting gain on jbl 7001

hi

i have a type r sub and a jbl 7001 amp

My headunit is a kenwood DPX-313Y

When i try to set the gains on the amp, there is hardly any bass until i max out the gain.

The headunit is set to 3/4 volume, Music playing,

I slowly set the gain and when i go about 7/8 of the gain there is a immediate change in bass.

I tried setting it using a voltmeter and a 50hz test tune but the voltage was very low on the gain, it should be 37.42v i was seeing around 11v etc until i turned gain all the way up and gt overload. When i did this method on my other amp jbl 14001 for my components. I used a 1khz test tone and voltage was set correctly and gain was only 1/4.

Do i have a faulty amp? when the gain is set almost to the top the sub hits hard.

So i dont know why?

it does sound like you might have a fault amp but also check your freq and sub sonic settings ... how many fuses and what rating are the fuses are there on the amp??

There are 3 25amp fuses on amp.

i double checked and my voltmeter shows voltage max around 15v 7/8

When i tried this method with a 1khz test tune on my other amp for components i was getting readings like 14v on a 3/8

What OHM do you have the subs wired down to?

How high does the volume of the HU go?

ANd did you set subwoofer output on +15?

headunit goes to 35 i was at 25 when testing. All bass,treble,mid was on 0

Loud off etc
