iceman1575 Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 I'm working on selling my stuff and upgrading to some AQ HDC3 subwoofers. I believe I have the choice of either two 12's or a single 15. I want the loudest system possible while still conserving trunk space in a 2001 Grand Prix. The widest box I can fit in ATM is about 36", heightwise between 16" & 18" (if I play around with the 6x9's), & my main aim is to have a port firing out the back of the box into the cabin through the middle seat door. What would be the best way to go about at this, as I will be ordering this week. POTATO!

Deschain420 Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 Subs, sealed off, firing into the cabin is the loudest setup for a "trunk car". Might want to look into that as a real option first. Thorshammer is a great example of how loud you can get. But to your question, I think you could fit 2 - 15's in the trunk (depending on the subs)...but I don't think it would be wise, as you'd likely have to build in the trunk, and not have very much room for anything else (amps, batteries, fuses and access to them). 2 12's, or 1 18" should not be an issue at all though. Given the choice, I'd take the 1 - 18". But to port through the armrest hole, sub firing to the side would be easiest. If you chose to fire up, you will need to deaden your trunk lid. A lot. And while I recommend deadening your trunk lid anyway, but I personally don't like subs up in a trunk. You could also do subs back, ports firing up through the rear deck 6/9" holes (if you meant taking them out). I think that would sound better too, having the waves bounce off the window, rather than straight through the middle of the car.

I don't have that much need for my trunk, just for bookbag and my emergency cases and stuff like that. About how many cubes am I gonna need for two 15" HDC3's daily, mostly hip hop but a mix of everything including techno, rock, electro, etc. POTATO!

I've ever heared them, but I know there are dozens of subs in the market that can get loud.
