ok well the main reason for this post is just a question i wanted to ask before i put a bunch of possibly useless work into my system. which would be louder 1 12 running at 2 ohm or 2 12 at 4 ohm and now i know thats to general and you guys will wana know more details so i currently have 1 12" rockford fosgate dvc from about the 90's im not sure exactly but it is a dual 4 and it is 400w rms and 800w max and i recently found another that i could get for 20 bucks thanks to craigslist and i was wondering if it would be louder if i hooked up both. my amp is an infinity 611a mono block which according to the manual is 650w rms at 2 ohm and 450w rms at 4 ohm and i currently have it just hooked up to one

another question i had was what is the best frequency to tune a box to if you want good loud low bass but you also want to have it not drop of a great bit in the higher bass. i currently have it tuned to 30hz and i like the way it sounds on songs like put on that his really low but i wish it had more in the upper end but a sealed box doesnt have enough volume for me. thanks for the help guys

Why can't you get the other and wire down to 2 ohms? Or 1 ohm? An if you drop the power but add another sub I would think it would kinda be the same loudness, but why not get both an then upgrade amps? And try 32 hrts box! I'm not an expert at all but thats what I would do

2 Dual 4 ohm can only be ran at 1ohm or 4ohm so 1ohm would hurt and possibly destroy the amp. So you would be losing a decent amount of power and the surface space gained from another sub wouldn't necessarily make up for the loss in power and definately not worth the loss of space IMO. If you're not wanting to buy a new amp just keep what you have.

I believe you are talking about the rf he2's....I would tune the box to 34hz...

One thing I noticed about some enclosures I built in the past is when you give a sub more port area than recommended, it tends to hit well on higher bass notes even when tuned low...

ok so then if i did want to run two i should get a new amp. do you guys have any suggestions as to what is a nice, affordable amp that puts out about the watts i need either at 4ohms or one that is 1ohm stable? and also do you have any advice on building and tuning a box with 2 subwoofers. and also i did notice what you ment as to it doing well on high notes cause i have a pretty large rectangular port and it does have those fluctuations in the volume but the problem is where it gets louder again in the higher frequencies is mostly when i am listening to other types of music and its a pretty loud increase and sounds un natural like if i am listening to alternative the bass guitar on some notes is blasting to where i cant barely hear the vocals
