memphisbasshead
ok i have an re audio hc 15 dual 2 ohm and i was wanting to build a ported box but i want to save as much space as possible(its going in a really tiny car 2008 kia rio lx) i was thinking of building a box that is 16.5" H x 12.5" D x 36" W the the sub will have a displacement of 0.19 cubic ft so the net volume of the box would be 3.10 cubic ft using 3/4" mdf. then i want to get a 6 inch aeroport that is 17 inches long and the port will be completely external and none of it will be in the box so there is no port displacement and with that port it would tune the box to 33.88 hz with 9.12 sq inches of port are per cubic ft which is kind of a bare minimum amount of port area and i think that this sub would probably like alot of port area. then the other idea is to go with an 8 inch aeroport that is completely external and is 30 inches long which tune the box to 34.89 hz with 16.21 sq inches of port are per cubic ft which is alot of port are and i will get considerably louder but the issue i run into with the 8" port is that first off i don't believe that there is 8 inch pvc pipe and second off its too long and i'll have to bend the port. i'd like to get an 8 inch port but i can't find one and plus i'll need to bend it at around 18 inches. so i'm trying to decide weather i should go with a 6 inch aeroport or if i can get one an 8 inch aeroport. so any other ideas that i could do to save space in my trunk and still get loud? Alex K
what's wrong with more than 1 port? Don't do the 9/^ft, that'll just not sound too good. Go with your second option but maybe throw a few more ports. 2006 Nissan Z Track. My Feedback Thread i used to think a band pass was something you were around your neck or something. Boon
Unless it's for pure SPL 1 6" aeroport will work great. As long as it's a real flared aeroport, not just a piece of 6" pipe. 10.x volts fo' life!
