Amp keeps blowing fuses?

Recommended Posts

the other amp is more watts so it prolly has a bigger fuse. i would recommend upgrading your electrical and elemnating the cap.

Okay so im gonna disconnect all my wiring, and start over :D

It should only take me an hour or so to re-run everything ..

Also could fuses blow because of low current?

I have 1/0 Running to the back, and i have a distro block, with 4gauge for my AQ1200D, but i only have like 10gauge for the Component amp ..

Im sure this could have something to do with it?

nah,

never herd of a capacitor feeding too much power to an amp,

it sounds like you have a shortage somewhere in ur amp

and its barely flowing current, that's making the fuse too hot and burns them out

probably you over loaded too much or overloading it right now,if the speakers clip while you play it loud, you know for sure your loading to much to your amp

this is just my opinion but i doubt this will be it,just an idea what it might be

gdluck

i'm pretty sure someone with more knowledge would come upon this post

My lights dont dim with 350 watts, but they Dim with 1550 watts lol

Im running 2 amps off my Capacitor, so that they dont dim ..

But i am running stock electrical, but could that cause the fuses to blow?

Why wouldnt my other amp have the same problem?

Ah, see ya done lost me. :nea: :nea: Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me will chime in.

Warning, you are taking advice from a noob with 0 install experience at this point, any advice I give is strictly based on information gathered via the intrawebz and lots of forum surfing over a period of 2 months

If you are considering buying a DC Level 5, do it. Don't think about it, just do it. It'll work.

go to lowes get bricks wait in yard. throw said brick at vehicle. If thats me and that just happened to me Im going looking for him after that.

1. Goto lowes

2. Get some bricks

3. ???

4. PROFIT!!

Profit from everything. LOVE ideas like this. xD

So you replaced the original amp rating fuses with something bigger? Thats just asking to fry something... <_<

Not a good idea? My first mod on all my cars is to pull all the fuses and replace them with 30a so things don't quit on me while I'm driving! :peepwall:

Ok, that was a joke, don't think its a good idea or that I would actually do that. I'm sure there's someone out there that's done it but that's a different story.......

What's your voltage at while playing? How low does it go?

My voltage is around 13.7 i think, and when driving and playing the system, it stays around 12.5* volts ..

I can take it for a drive and check it out really quick if needed

Your proble. Is too small of fuses. 2 20 amp fuses will only allow 480 watts rms at 12 volts. If your amp is truly 350 watts rms per chanlle, you need fuses to alow 700 watts rms of current flow so two 40 amp fuses will do. You always want some headroom with the fuses so you don't always burn them. It's simple math amps x volts= wattage

I would recommend atleast 8g for the component amp. I run 4 on mine even though it only "needs" 8g. Bigger will never hurt.

But could this cause voltage drops to the amp because of low current?

Would that blow fuses?
