Texas Tech
yea, my stapel gun ftmfl, ill have pics up in less than 5 minutes. SO today I wrapped it and glassed 75% of it. Some of the glassin is not smooth at all, its shitty but while i was doing it i figured ill just make up for that part during the sanding, im cool wit sanding. Texas Tech
pics are uploading on photobucket, but just to put this out there, im not one to make it an excuse, and i dont consider it an excuse, but this is my first time to deal with wrapping and fiberglassing with fleece. So I didnt know what to expect. I kinda just made it rain resin cuz everyone says it soaks up like a bitch. Well pics are coming, and i am going to be dedicated to sanding for this week. just one second. Regardless, this is a fun build, no matter what the outcome, i have to leave for tech in a week and a half, and even if its not finished by then, it really has been a great learning experience and fun to work with. These pics are all pretty self explanatory, wrapped it, some shitty glassing, ugly glassing, and then some more improved glassing. So we got a wide spectrum of glassing calibur to look at. Ugly....ughh well tommorow, you wont even notice it... Baylor University Accounting
LSN2meBoom916
No worries man. It's alll in the recovery As long as youcan cut/chop/rebuild (yes like the show) you'll be fine. The "pretty work" will come soon enough. That looks like a nice solid base to build on. Nice start. Texas Tech
dude, i appreciate all your comments on this man. This being my very first build, its probably going to take a while, as compared to well groundpounder2k. He could probably do this work in a matter of a couple of days. Anyways, I saw this cheese grader at oreily's so i bought it, it just looked cool. Says its for shaping with the rage gold stage of the project. "Cheese graters" and "Drangon skin (what I use) are just like they sound-like a cheese grater it has a buncha sidways cut holes and as you drag it accross the material it shaves off more than sanding alone. Great for if you just build it up high with Rage or soft filler and need to bring it down low again before sanding. Time saver as long as you're careful and let IT do the work. If you push it, you can end up with some gnarly "cuts" or "grooves" through your work, and have to re-filler em in. Texas Tech
If this tool works wonders for me, i might just put a new thread up in the tools section. We will see im off to work it. Ill probably finish glassing it today, sand tommorow and maybe the next day (like i said, im new so i cant exactly make an estimate on how long it will take me to sand), but hopefully start working with the rage by the weekend for sure. Oh,yea, screw oreilys for not having everything i needed yesterday, and screw lowes too. I finally found the hardner for the resin at home depot. Both lowes and oreilys had the cream hardner, but not the kind for the resin. Baylor University Accounting

roscoe1129
Looking good so far mang! Another Rage Gold trick is to get some 36-40 grit sandpaper and when it is still "green" not all the way cured start sanding it. It is like using molding clay and works very well, but you only have a small time frame to sand, then you get to regular sand.
