AudioMasterKing Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 alright guys got a question for ya. im not completely sure so iv come to the experts.. ok my dash speakers in my car are 4x6. im replacing them. wat i wanna know is should i use the factory wires already ran there for my new speakers or should i run my own wires from my H/U? and another question is, i know bigger the wire is better when running a power wire for amp and stuff but is a bigger wire running from the H/U to the 4x6 better? like is bigger the wire better for just dash speakers and 6x9. same as a power wire for amp, bigger the better?

matt14 Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 When i first installed my system, i spliced in 16guage wire into the factory harness for the door speakers. Then the same when i replaced them with the orion cobalts. But when i installed the CDT speakers, i ran all new 12guage wiring to the mids and crossovers, and 16guage to the tweeters. No more factory wiring in my, car anymore. But with just off the HU, would say it should be safe. white4d96 Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 When I run speakers off the HU I use the factory wiring unless it has ridiculous resistance or is in bad shape. Just my $.02 though Too many projects, too little time...
