teamjeffrey Posted September 4, 2010 Report Share Posted September 4, 2010 ok i have a 1999 vw passat after i was in a wreck my check engine light came on 2 to 4 weeks after. and i took it to the dealership to see why. they told me i have low voltage and i had a under sized battery. which i have a batcap 2000 under the hood. which can handle a 1000 watt amp and my 1/0 awg wires when i don't even have the fuse hooked up and my eq so i called a stereo shop and they said it sounds like a bad alt so i took to one alt shop and told me they would have to take my alternator out which would take 3 hours since it's on the bottom of the car. but my battery never died on me and i took it to auto zone they said my battery is good. but my alternator is bad so a few weeks later i took it to have retested and now they say it works fine. but now my check engine light will come on then a week later turn back off. what do you think the real problem is.
