it sounds like pure clipping

from 0:00-0:14
and then again in Jay Zs break down from
3:10-3:20

maybe im crazy, but it sure as fuck sounds bad and looks bad on this crappy spectrum analyzer video

its probably a "squashed" recording. its nothing new. check out any lil john song, it'll be the same way.

i mean, yeah why would you want it to sound like ass.... but Jay Z has had a few of these break downs now

the other few i can think of is "on to the next one" and "empire state of mind"

if he fucks up my speakers, I smell class action lawsuit? :pardon: i think we could get a couple hundred thou just from the people on this website 8)

whats dry ?

to call a vocal track "dry" means that it is exactly as the person sang it. with the invention of pro-tools, nothing is done in one shot any more. they can take the recording, and change the pitch, and even change it emulate someone elses voice. you could take a lil john track and make it sound like madonna was singing it.
