DC LVL 5 18" or AA Mayhem 18"

Recommended Posts

I am upgrade from my current and really small Kicker Comp 12"s to one 18" and i have narrowed it down to either the DC audio lvl 5 18 or AA mayhem 18. The amp i will be running is a sundown SAZ-2500 to replace my old war horse Diamond Audio 600.1. I have the big three done and 0 all the way around I have ordered a XS 3100 battery for the back and i have 8 cubes to work with for the box. the reason im not going with a bigger amp is most car shows in my area run a 0-600rms@4ohm class and the SAZ-2500 is the strongest amp i have found that falls into this class. I just wonder which of these two subs would be better for the "weekend warrior" who drives the car everyday and uses my system as my daily system . I am also open to any suggestions on a more powerful amp that is rated 600 rms @ 4 ohm. I can only run one amp due to class rules.

note i am aware that i have a DD9518 sub as my pic but didn't list it as one of my choses.

I think that the Level 4 xl will be better for you.

I completely agree with you

id say level 4 lx. the level 5 is just too power hungry

its better to have a over powered sub you can turn down then a sub you cant power

true i already do that with my current setup i might one day put more power in so that is the main reason for wanting the bigger series

I don't really know much about DC, but are their subs really that good? I thought the nut swinging comments I heard earlier was a joke, but repeatedly hear how good these are, is making me think there is some truth to this.

Side question, with 4k, which DC sub is best to handle that power?

With 4KW to one sub, the lvl 5.

OP, in your original post you say the pic is a 9518, I think your find it's a 9510 just fyi, if it was a 18 the magnet would be freking massive
