bumonskateboard6 Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 So amp is a rockford fosgate t1000 2009 model, the amp was installed in a friend/clients car running a dc lvl4 15 and all set with a multimeter at 59/61 on the HU. The sound stopped working after about three months so I figured it was the sub but the sub coils read fine, then I put the dmm on the amp and although it was on and not in protect there was not any output voltage anymore. I'm just trying to figure out what went wrong with this, the amp is being repaired right now. I think he somehow managed to clip the hell out of it because when I took the amp out it was too hot to even touch the metal on the back. Thats something I was afraid of because he had an old battery that died on him and the problem happened shortly after he got it replaced. Boon Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 Low voltage does not kill amps. I have never, ever seen an amp that blew because the voltage got too low. They go into protect first. 10.x volts fo' life!

Amp never went into protect (as far as I know, not in my car) however the amp was on with no protect light on and when I tested a 50hz sine wave through the multimiter it was reading 0 volts no matter how high I'd adjust the volume on the deck or gain on the amp.
