Boon Posted September 15, 2010 Report Share Posted September 15, 2010 It's a logarithmic scale but also you have to allow for the response of the human ear when talking about 'loudness' +3dB is twice the acoustic energy +10dB is twice the perceived loudness. So 150dB seems twice as 'loud' as 140dB but you are experiencing around 10 times the acoustic energy. That's why 150s start to mess your car up where 140's dont. Quote 10.x volts fo' life!
