6th order aperiodic chamber box help!

hey guys, basically after some help as to "will this work" and any further help you could give me,

in the next month or so i'll be starting a full walled re-build of my 84' corona wagon, but i REALLY want to do something different, you see flat walls out here all the time, clamshells aren't uncommon (my charade is running a 12x 10" clamshell) 4th orders and there's even a couple of diamond builds out here, so i've been steering away from all these style of boxes...

what i've settled on somewhat, is a (i believe) 6th order, sidewards clamshell, with an aperiodic chamber on either side... if that makes sense...

here's a sketch of the said design, this is without ANY measurements, purely what was going on in my head...

BILD3505.jpg

as for gear, i'll be running 4x cadence beastmaster 15"s off 2x USaudio bonecrushers (basically a Fusion 4000d) for around 10,000rms...

my theory behind this design is basically to achieve MASSIVE efficiency at seriously LOW frequencies, whilst keeping the box VERY musical, as previous results from ABC boxes i've built have come out with a nice response shelf, instead of a peak at any specific frequency, it seems to have made almost identical numbers on the TL from around 25hz thru to 50hz...

with this i plan on tuning the main chamber down to around 10hz, with the aperiodic chambers taking that tuning shelf to around 50hz... making the aperiodic chambers slightly over sized SHOULD give me a nice peak around 30hz...

now for the questions!

- 1st of all, will this work? is my theory correct?

- in a typical ABC box, the aperiodic chamber is 1/3 of the total airspace, considering this design has 2x aperiodic chambers, does that mean each chamber should be 1/6th of the total airspace, or should both be 1/3...?

- seeing as tho there are 2x aperiodic chambers the total box tuning (10hz) calculations will need to be done with 3 ports, but will the port area for the aperiodic chambers have to be halved?

my thoughts on a couple of the questions are that IF each aperiodic chamber is 1/6th of the total airspace, then the port area for those chambers will need to be halved, so that the maths of both chambers combined, would equal the totaly of if there were only a single chamber...? if that makes sense?

sorry about the loooong initial post, but i wanted to include as much information as possible, as you guys are a HUGE wealth of information, and i'd like as MANY responses as i can, even if you only have a small amount of input i want to hear it!

thanks in advance!

6th orders are kinda rare for a reason,, it will be very difficult to design and do it right and one slip up and your woofers will be in shreds.

i have searched and havnt found much info here. you should look into home/ theater applications where 4th 6th and horn applications are more prevolent.

its basically try it and see what happens...

this is one of the most complicated 6th order theries ive seen i doubt too many ppl can really help you,, maybe

thanks guys! i knew it was going to be a difficult design from the word go, but there's just something so rewarding about achieving the difficult,

i'll DEFINITELY have a look around the home theater scene, but as it's for a car, and i know there are some members on here that are just crazy when it comes to their knowledge on odd designs, i figured this would be the 1st place to start inquiring!

once i have the rough idea's of what i'm doing as far as measurements go, i shall be building everything on a smaller scale, and running some 10"s that i've got laying around so that i can have a play around in realtime, put it in the car and see what it does exactly... that way i can make the changes needed and get a feel for the practical aspects of the design while it's still in "box" form, before i transfer it all to a full wall build...

however, do you think it's possible, that this will work?

i'd like to see what it does

I cant find those amps?

Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through.

me too sir!

unfortunately i doubt you'd be able to find any info on them at all, as i haven't been able to myself, but they run the exact same boards as the fusion 4000d in your display pic, and the epsilon 5000d the only real difference is the name and the USaudio have these aluminium "wings" in the sides...

actually i have 4 of them sitting here, there australian distributor was clearing them out for $500aus each... couldn't pass it up! haha

* guy in the pic is not me, so i have kinda removed him... lol

not sure if i'll be running them all in the wagon, as it is i think 10,000rms will be enough...

but again, any help on the box design will be VERY appreciated!

I'd run them all rofl!

Run them all. They don't do 5kw. I have a very blown-the-fuck-up FCA-4000D in my garage waiting for the MOSFETs to be available again.

0.25ohm wired

input

15.0v

750A draw

output

73.6v

81a

which works out to be:

5925w @ 0.91ohm reactive and 15v

they're the clamp results a friend of mine did on his... they need PLENTY of voltage and nice low loads to get rated power, but they'll do it...

the main reason i most likely won't be running all 4 boards is that i'm trying to sort out some new amps, with any luck i should be running a handful of Cadence ZRS-C7 boards... but thats all still in the works, as it is now 2x surfboards should do... lol
