AGM bat charging Q, without using fancy AGM charger!

I have 3 Deka intimidator G31 batts...There AGM batts, and wanting to slow charge them to a higher resting voltage as when I got them they were sitting @ 12.9v.. My question is this: there resting voltage is 12.63 on average, and there a little over 1yr old. The battery charger I have says NOTHING about being AGM compatible, however the settings on it are 12v 10a, 12v 2a, 6v 10a charging rates. Yesterday, I put the batts on charge using 12v 2a, and let it slow charge for about 8hrs. This morning the resting voltage is now 12.86v steady.. Am I causing any harm to my batts not using one of those fancy AGM/GELL chargers? or am I ok using this slow 2amp charge over 8-10hrs? Seems to have worked ok, hell I gained .2v resting so for that, im pretty happy I do plan on buying the onboard stinger AGM charger, but looking to maintain my batts in the meantime. Thanks for any input you can supply me with.

I know this doesn't help answer your question but if an alt can charge them like normal why wouldn't a regular charger? I can understand needing a special charger for NiCad's, NiMH's and Lithium batteries but i don't see a need for the agm as it is being charged by the same alternator we use on a standard wet cell battery.
