Tek Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 My friend wanted to sell me some cheap ass wire for next to nothing, so I figured "why not?". It's Lightning Audio 1/0 Gauge, and I plan on using it for my Big 3 Upgrade, but I don't want to use a 300A fuse and it ends up being way to big (which it very well could be). It is some thick wire, but it says 1029 strands. I have some pictures here, tell me what you think of it, is it actually 1/0? Quote
Guest DC Power Kyle Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 lightning audio = rockford fosgate. Quote
Tek Posted October 2, 2010 Author Report Posted October 2, 2010 (edited) lightning audio = rockford fosgate. I take it thats sarcasm? I thought Lightning Audio was sheeit. I just got the wire cuz it was so cheap *EDIT* I know RF owns them or w/e, but isnt Lightning Audio just their low quality stuff? Edited October 2, 2010 by Tek Quote
dugee81 Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 i dont think its true 1/0 awg.. looks a little bit smaller than 1/0 but a little bit bigger than 4awg Quote 200a alt. by Excessive Amperage hc800 under hood & 2 Deka 9a31 in rear 1/0awg + big 3 SAZ 3000D HDC3 18" @ 2 ohm
techforce Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 (edited) I think he means Lightning Audio is Fosgates cheaper brand... I think they also have a connector company as well.. insalledge Edited October 2, 2010 by techforce Quote
Tek Posted October 2, 2010 Author Report Posted October 2, 2010 so what sized fuse would you use on it? Quote
Team_DC-Derrick Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 thats a low strand count for 1/0.... i mean.. really low Quote The DC Integra 3 18s to 6 15 build log Team_DC-Derrick's Youtube Team DC Audio where theres a will theres a wall....... Guest DC Power Kyle Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 wasn't sarcasm. just telling you it is RF... but not as good.... should've added that. Quote
Tek Posted October 2, 2010 Author Report Posted October 2, 2010 (edited) it looks bigger than 4. I tried fitting a 4GA terminal over it and it wasn't happening. Edited October 2, 2010 by Tek Quote
Team_DC-Derrick Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 honestly, wiring goes by stand count.. it flows over the strands not through it.. so the more strand count the better the current will flow through even if its bigger than 4g doesnt mean it has teh same strand count as a good 4g will have... 1/0 normally has 3600 or more strand count.. if not its not the good stuff Quote The DC Integra 3 18s to 6 15 build log Team_DC-Derrick's Youtube Team DC Audio where theres a will theres a wall.......
