cmamtower
well i just got my car towed back to my house a few hours ago. got it taken apart ( acc belts, timing cover. ect. and got the top driver side mount off. and the bolt holding the mount to the block came out and completely stripped the threads. and the lower bolt of the mount is half exposed from a piece of aluminum on the block breaking off due to harsh shifting. so i need to know how to fix the issue with either helicoils or what. i will post pictures as soon as i can get them. they'll be alot of help describing what im talking about. doug118
the only way that could have happened from "harsh shifting" is if the bolts were not tight in the first place. someone fucked something up some time in that cars life and it was just a ticking time bomb. that is the mount on the drivers side correct? cmamtower
the solution a new grade 8 bolt and a tap and die set Tap & Die yeah, but what about the bottom hole? it has a huge chunk missing from the bottom. i could always drill out the center one and tap it as well and somehow weld the bottom one back into somewhat factory form and retap it? so instead of having 2 bolts holding it on, i'll have 3. edit: i only need to use this motor this winter, im swaping it in january when i get my check for school Edited October 6, 2010 by cmamtower Quote apparently you dont get the fact that the subaru was wrapped around a pole. and by the status of your comment, im guessing your mouth is too. Loudcivic
bigger bolts and make new threads with a tap. next time tighten the bolts or get the right ones. that would be the old reason why they did that.
