Gotta New Iphone 4 - help with ringtones!

Recommended Posts

Could be that they aren't actually suited for ringtones. You know how apple is changing iTunes constantly and features. If you can't get them into the ringtone tab of iTunes it won't work. I love the program I use. Iphoneringtonemaker I think isthe actual name. It's like a $15 program but it's worth it. Upgrades are free and it gets updated everytime iTunes gets updated if a security feature is changed. And no you don't have to hack your phone for it to work.

•Start iTunes and find the song you want to convert. (It must be an MP3.)

•Right-click the song and choose Get Info.

•Click the Options tab.

•Check the Start Time and Stop Time boxes, then enter times for each (no more than 30 seconds apart, the maximum length for a ringtone). I used 0:00 and 0:30, respectively, as "Spit It Out" has a perfect ascending lead-in.

•Click OK, then right-click the song again and choose Create AAC Version. You should immediately see a new 30-second version of the song.

•Drag that version out of iTunes and into the folder of your choice.

•Delete the 30-second version from iTunes and undo the Start Time/Stop Time changes to the original.

•Open the folder containing the 30-second AAC file you dragged out of iTunes, then change the file extension from .m4a to .m4r. Double-click it and it immediately gets added to iTunes' ringtone library.

•Finally, sync your iPhone. When it's done, you can head into the settings and select your new ringtone.

Hopefully Google was right :peepwall:

dwright, i did look at your post and DUHH bro, of course i looked under my ringtone selection on the phone......im not that stupid.

Jeramy: they are already ringtones and already are only 30 seconds each. They were downloaded in the ringtone section of the Itunes store. There is over 100 of them. There isnt any reason i should have to go in and convert them all to some other format. I know how to use google too thanks for pulling up something i pulled up like 50 times already. I figured there was some iphone experts here but i guess i was wrong :pardon: fuck it ill just stick with my standard ring and call it a $3.99 loss on the ringtones.
