bisch92
I have a Crunch.PZT 1400.2 Amplifier and a dual 4 ohm Alpine Type R 12" 600W RMS. I have the subwoofer Bridged with the gain turned 3/4 up. The cone starts off cool but then very slowly gets warm. If anyone can help me fix my problem, it would be gladly appreciated seeing as I bought everything brand new and I don't want it to go to waste. Thanks a bunch. Other Information 3 farad Capacitor 90A Fuse with 4 Ga Power Wire 12 Ga. Speaker wire Alpine CDE-102 Head Unit 12" Ported Subwoofer Box. Jbabycsx
Sounds to me like the gain is way to high. Have you checked the output with a multi meter? Skullz
Is the cone hot? Does it have a funny smell when playing? It will get warm while playing and is normal but getting hot and stinky isn't good for it and can cause the death of you sub pretty quick. bisch92
I have not used a multi meter. The headunit can be found here: http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/p_20663_Alpine_CDE-102.aspx Cliping?

Thats where I would start. bisch92
Now that i Think of It, if i play some songs that hit real low and hard, the amp will power protect itself and shut off the subwoofers. Could this be because of clipping? Edited October 11, 2010 by bisch92

Could this be because of clipping? Yup, turn the gain down those amps aren't going to put out their "max" power look at the RMS info here: http://www.techronics.com/caraudio_11656_CRUNCH-PZT1400-2-1400W-Max-Power-Zone-Series-2-Channel-Amplifier-PZT-1400-2-.html and try to get a DMM soon and set your gains properly to those RMS ratings, max power means next to nothing. Low voltage doesn't blow amps. That's a myth. A router that does the sub holes makes rounded edges also?
bisch92
Alright thanks, I had no idea i was pushin 700w RMS, but any idea where to get a good DMM for a cheap price?
