may03LT Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 what do you mean a switched lead to the h/u? i could care less about the retained power, its kinda stupid because it doesnt last long enough before i have to flick the key and turn it back off. and as i said before the chimes are annoying as hell to me. But that part # u gave me for the cheap one looks like my adapter i have for the 24-pin female connector i used on my 1998 oldsmobile 88. is it the same?? The factory radio doesn't have a turn on lead (the one that normally goes to the red wire of an aftermarket head unit). It turns on via a bussed message. So you would have to wire in the deck to a circuit that turns on with the key in the run position and off with the key in the off position. Chances are it's the same, that harness covers a lot of gms from the late 90s up. Also, I don't remember what that C2 connector does but it is not needed for aftermarket radios. Mines been sitting unplugged for 3 1/2 years.
