I had been wanting to do a carputer setup, but hadnt done it b/c o was prepping for bags. Will the laptop hdd hold up. I'd assue if it can handle Chickens 8 18's, and bags, it can handle jsut bags.

I second the whole windows xp. Vista slows every computer I've used down terribly, its not like your running anything in the car to need anything more than xp. How will that hard drive hold up to the abuse of 30k watts rms? Sound deaden the box your putting it in?

I think the PC will hold up fine with that.

As far 30k watts...I have no idea...this will be a good test. I mentioned it to Steve,

he said laptops have worked fine. The HDD's I use are laptop hard drives. So I'm thinking (and hoping) it'll be ok.

That case Steve has also has a dampening kit available...Steve thought he'd try it without the kit first.

dont forget, its 30k watts AVAILABLE but only 16k on the subs. I HIGHLY doubt im gonna run the mids and highs at 1ohm bridged so they wont be getting the other 15k.......No matter what it will be loud and CLEAN though.....

You could also use USB WiFi dongle. SO, several different ways of getting online.

The weather is tied in with weather.com, that's where it gets the data/info.

I guess that was a j/k, but still I have to say (for people that wonder) that there is no need to overload the PC with an

operating system that hogs all resources. I'd even prefer installing Win98 if possible but not all other

software would be compatible. (So, XP is a must)

you cant get on the net with 98 now its to old and in about a year you want be able 2 get on the internet with XP to idk y there doing that and i have a ? about the computer could you not get a bigger processor?? or can you over clock that processor???

you can definitely get a beefier processor, there's a ton of options out there Also I use several machines that run 98SE and surf the internet just fine

really what kind of net you have??? i have roadrunner and i have a computer oh 98 and it want get on the internet and i have talked buddy that works on computers for a living and told me they want get on any more lol i have no idea really i dont mess with the 98 just the XP. lol

it doesnt need a bigger or beefier processor, what am i gonna do play Crysis on it? It is a CARputer. Look at the picture of the PC case, its barely bigger then the 10" monitor, what am i gonna do run SLI? (yes i know some laptops can do SLI now but this is a caputer not a laptop)

Its MOBILE electronics here, just for the system. This thing does about 1000 things it doesnt need to do already.......i mean its cool it plays dvd's and video but when it comes down to it, there isnt gonna be kids in the backseat on family trip. Its got a SICK navigation system, but it wont be used for anything but lookin at.......where in my Tahoe it gets used all the time. Dont get me started on the headrest monitors (expensive ass Visualogic) that are now facing a wall........so before you guys suggest what i shoulda got, look at what i did get and how much of it is completely uneccessary.

.....now SUPPORT for windows 98 from microsoft may have expired but you can CERTAINLY still get on with it......
