Is a capacitor necessary?

Recommended Posts

Im going to be nice about this... When someone has a ? either answer it or dont answer but enough is enough with bashing people when they have legitimate questions and need to know something...I understand there is a bias to using or not using a cap. If you cant provide info to the OP then stay the F**k out of the topic Thanks

Caps store and release energy in a different fashion as compared to batteries.. Which is why in a sense, they are efficient, but when put under a prolonged load, they fail.

The best resolution would be a HO alternator, then second would be batteries and last would be caps... Caps are usually not good if you do not have the ability to charge them and supply the stereo with current because it robs from the amps to recharge the cap... Lets say your amps draw 200 amps all together, you would need at least a 260 amp alt to keep the system and car running without having to utiliize batteries...

A cap is good IF you are having a current drop from the alt to the amps, but ONLY if you have the alt to supply more than what you are drawing... if not, then it will rob your system...
