Headunit Help!

[SMD Basshead]

Ok everytime I turn my car off the radio just resets it self to default settings and I lose all my settings and radio stations anyone know the problem or how can I fix it?

This is the head unit I have.

What year is your car? This was happening in my girls 94 saab. The wiring was so old there was no...uhm I want to say 12volt or constant line I cant remember, so the radio would turn on when the car went on but as soon as it shut off everything was lost (settings,stations,ect) I wired the (i wanna say 12volt, yellow) into a fuse that I had tested in the fuse box to have constant power when the car was off and bam, worked like a charm. Although she has to manually turn her radio on and off now because it doesnt shut off with the car because its constantly getting power.

constant positive to the head unit is messed up, and it turning off with the ignition. Try switching the wires for the red and yellow wires on the head unit.

that was it, constant positive, that fix didnt help for her though ha. good luck.

Make sure the yellow wire is constant power with the key in the off position, red is the ignition switched wire. If the yellow isn't constant power then you'll have to run one from the fuse box to the H/U so your settings don't reset every time you turn it off.

yellow line gets constant, red line is the switched ignition. just hook the yellow up to a constant, and the red up to one that is only on with the key. I had to cut the stock wiring and find the wires with my DMM in my saab as well as my lincoln. Bare minimum you should at least invest in a test light when you try to do wiring with cars.
