When i play a good song with some bass,on a good volume,soon you get that nasty smell. I think a lot of you guys know what i mean. In the beginning the woofers didn't smell.And the woofers and amp are still working. The woofers are getting warm two.And how lower the voltage drop,how worse the smell and warmth gets. The gain isn't set really far,and if it was,the subs can handle it !The sub filter isn't really low at al,i think somewhere around 42 hz. I guess the problem is or the voltage drop,so the amp plays more uncontrolable. And i can't find the dimensions of the vented enclosure,but mine second guess is a wrong calculated port or some really bad airloss inside the box ! If you guys have more ideas of what it could be,or anything that i can test so i know what it is,i would be very greatfull !And i hope mine english is good enough to understand

Voltage dropping makes your amp more suceptable to clipping. Turn the gain down. Every amp is different. Every headunit is different. Every set of RCA wires are different. Gain should be set to your system, not set to "oh it doesn't LOOK that high". Dagobert Posted October 28, 2010 Author Report Posted October 28, 2010 Thnx guys.I know the gain should be set to the system,and it is.But i just wanted to say it so people don't think it just max out you know. But clipping,the subs don't perform diffrent or make a weird sound.So i don't quickly see where that comes into the picture(i am just trying to understand everything ) And why isn't a wrong constructed box a option ? I hope that i can charge the battery soon,see if that makes the problem go away. And a friend of mine thinks it could be the amp.Like it is giving the wrong power.Low,high,incontinues.I doubt that couse it still works good.

Dagobert Posted October 28, 2010 Author Report Posted October 28, 2010 i am working on for a better alt. And i am running a mtx92001 @ 2 ohms currently.Powerd by 1 norhstart nsb90. But the amp shares that batt with 1 4 channel amp and 1 2 channel amp. Up in front is a standaard batt 45 amps.Going to be replaced by a 60/70. If some one needs to know more,just ask

Rection Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 The woofers are getting warm two.And how lower the voltage drop,how worse the smell and warmth gets. as your woofers heat up, your impedance changes. this is due to the relation between voltage and amperage, and how that in turn, equals wattage. when running correctly, your amplifier will put out a certain amount of voltage to amperage. exmaple, my car can put out lets say, 105volts at 15 amps. this would equal 1,575 watts. however, lets figure the same wattage, but at a rate that will burn your subs. so lets figure 39.375 volts at 40 amps. this equals 1,575 watts. however, your amperage is much higher, and will be more likely to damage your woofers. same goes for phone companies. your phone lines have an insane amount of voltage in them, its just at such a low amperage that it doesnt heat up the tiny 24ga lines. running high amperage on a phone line would be like trying to suck a golf ball through a garden hose.
