but what type of screws do you use to mount your subs. I was driving around today, and i start hearing a weird noise. So I look back at my subs and low and behold my passenger side sub is jumping about an inch off my box. I have always used 1.5-2 inch coarse thread drywall screws with no problem, but the screws have pulled out of my double thick bafffle. Do any of you guys use screws other than drywall screws?

My System:

Pioneer AVH-P3200BT

4-Dayton 7 inch reference series (front doors)

8-Onkyo 3/4 inch tweeters (dash)

1-Sundown Audio 100.4D (mids/highs)

2-18" BTL's (for now)

Crescendo 3kwp (for sale)

Complete rebuild coming soon...

Dude make sure the threads go all the way to the head when purchasing drywall screws, or any screw for that matter! otherwise the sub willnot be fully secured!

Some people need a sympathetic pat... on the head...with my hammer

threads went to the head, and they were definaely tightened down all the way. Right now I am thinking about some concrete screws, because I have quite a few of them laying around the house. As a last resort I am thining about t-nuts, and allen head bolts.

only time I ever see that is when you cut the woofer hole a little to big and the screws slip from where they are supposed to be at, and pretty much miss the wood.... if its a tight fit, it shouldnt happen

another time I did see that happen is when you use Ultra Light MDF, that stuff is horrible to mount woofers too

I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.

i use drywall screws also but when ur tightening the screws sometimes u might not notice but u can strip the mdf if u tighten them too much and if that happens the screws arent really doin anything...

dont understand, 6 of the 8 screw heads popped off. I made sure they were all good and tight. I went to the HD and I saw some of the walldogs Chevyboy was talking about, and they were relatively inexpensive...so i am gonne give those a try. I put them in and they sinched down tight as hell. I am definately liking them so far.
