Topic is about inside of enclosure, outside would be a different thread all together. SO.....more thoughts on inside of enclosure techniques to raise your score... Let's hear em!!! Install dependent says it all. Its not an extreme install or vehicle so the flex of the cab and compression of the carpet isnt going to change anything probably. I second the "golf ball" point posted earlier.. told someone else to do that a while ago and its on my list of things to more extensive testing on (i've only done a quick test on a pre-fab box using a hand-made bit to make the dimples. Cant make the dimples too small I would think, but maybe its worth testing size of large vs small.. then you gotta sand all the ledges of the dimples.... Maybe it would be easier to try computer modeling this, then you can dry different dimple profiles without building 30 boxes lol. MickyMcD - "Capable of making some serious trouser flapping volumes at where's-my-testicles frequencies, the Servo-Drives used to be fairly jaw dropping..." Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through. Hammerdown... 1% no links to outside websites, business related FB/YT pages allowed. AMI CUSTOMS
That would be a first for me ever hearing about this golf ball method, this is something I need to test in another environment before I go making a million dimples in my wall....LOL TEAM SOUNDQUBED -- TEAM SOUTH TEAM S.O.B. - Founder & Captain 3x Streetbeat World Record Holder 2017 MWSPL 1st place Mayhem & 4th Xtreme 4 2016 MWSPL 1st place Mayhem/2nd Adv 4/2nd Xtreme 4 2015 MWSPL 2nd place Mayhem & 4th Xtreme 4 2014 USACI 2nd place Streetbeat 5 - 162.6 db 2014 MWSPL 2nd place Xtreme 4 - 144.9 db 2013 USACI 1st place Streetbeat 4 - 161.9 db 2013 USACI 1st place Street Q+ - 162.8 db 2013 MWSPL 3rd Kaos2 & 4th Xtreme 4 2011 USACI 2nd place MOD 1001-2k - 160.0 db 2011 MWSPL 4th place: Adv3 - 157.8 db, Kaos2 - 150s db, Xtreme4 - 140s db 2010 ARSPL 1st place 501-750 - 160.3 db Arkansas loudest Best score to date 164.4 db - Termlab Outlaw Streetbeat 4 - 161.9 db Streetbeat 5 - 162.6 db MWSPL on Dash Legal door open (Music) - 162.5 db Sealed on dash Legal (Music) - 161.1 db - Termlab THE BLACK NASTY CURRENT BUILD & FAB The Black Nasty (6) 15 Rebuild Log 2012 (4) 15 Walled Sierra Build Log Evo X build log Facebook page The Black Nasty
AMI CUSTOMS
After 155/56, mechanics that normally applied to the double power/gaining 3 db NO LONGER APPLIES... Don't believe me, try it... Lol... Smoothing completely inside of your enclosure, can gain you anywhere from .3 - 3Db... See my enclosure? It's going to have the same surface as the outside of my vehicle... It'll get waxed too, just like the outside... Go over to TL and look at the thread about gaining dbs... Its really informative... That is pretty interesting, I must have a unique setup cuz when I was doing 157's, I doubled power and did 160's all day long....interesting...LOL Thanks for the pointers. skittlesRgood
We already put a fog machine in the box and found the problem areas, there is only a few right by the port. But I have a fix for that. It is funny you say carpet hurts alot, cuz just recently I had the same thought, but on this guys truck I built, it is an extended cab pickup similar to an s10, it is a Nissan something. Anyway, built his box two square 12's both firing up and port on driver side firing up. Metered it, did a 148.3, then a week later, carpeted the box in trunk liner, metered again, same number. Oh and didn't change an single thing other then carpeting the box. Explain that.... subs were broken in. If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude. If I was an asshole, you asked a stupid question or you had a fucktard attitude... or I was in a bad mood. AMI CUSTOMS
subs were broken in. Nope, he already had them in a different ported box with months of play time on them, he didn't like the way it sounded so he came to me. So there can be different theory's about it I guess, it was just strange to me that carpet vs no carpet it did same number exactly. But could be a few reasons, one being level of pressure wasn't that great....
