i have never seen anyone do a box like that.....kinda interesting but very wasteful on time. Looks good though

i dont know i think it will help.

for example if you glue and screw (butt joints) 4 pieces of wood in a square it wont be very strong. with a little pressure anyone could rack the square.

but with say dovetail joints the amount of force needed would be way more. a dovetail without glue and screws could still be stronger than a glued and screwed butt joint.

now obviously the tabs he made arent incredibly strong like a dovetail but it allows for more surface area for the glue. thusly making it a stronger connection than a simple butt joint

im sure you knew that though. i just had to say that for people who didnt know. and besides the increased surface area itll line up perfectly very easily

Holy shit...meade replied to me...i feel special o_O haha.

Haven't gotten to that point yet. I'm in a two floor apartment with my mom and stepdad. Dad's got the garage at his house, and with me being on house arrest, I can't get over there at least until next Tuesday or Wednesday.

I dunno. Made it easier for me to piece it together, plus added a little area for glue space. Once it gets sanded down it'll look nice. Would have looked nicer with access to a good table saw, but all I had was a jigsaw, a permanent marker, & ruler/tape measure. Plus it's my first box. Gotta give me credit for trying. That is, if it fits in my car...lol.

Port's 2.5" W x 14.5" H x 13.5" L, 4.78 cuft gross, 0.47cuft port volume, giving me 4.31 cuft at 35Hz.

Well, slight dilemma. The box fits in the trunk, but won't go through the trunk opening. What I'm going to have to do is glue the front, top, & bottom pieces first, then curve it into the trunk, lay some newspaper in the trunk, screw the rest of the pieces together, & glue them in the trunk. I'll have the spare tire out more than likely so I won't have much of a point in taking the subs out. Will let you all know how it goes.

Just a quick update. Subs are coming in today, pending on after my court case and what happens there. This box, I've decided, will only be temporary. I will probably rebuild with two separate boxes so I can take them out easier. I'll also more than likely Dynamat & add a false floor to make the trunk look nicer. Still looking around for the LED EQ UV meter plans. Hopefully I can find them soon.

Well, good news & bad news. And more good news. First good news, charges may be dropped...bad news, have to wait until January for my next court date. The monitor company is giving me leeway to go to my dads a few hours a weekend to work on my car, so that's good...

More good news: I'm going to talk dad into just getting me stuff for my car for Christmas. In the plans are new boxes (yes, boxes...) as a single box won't fit in and out of my trunk easily; mid/high amp with components, some Dynamat, a false floor, and a second battery. I'll have access to the table saw at my dad's now, so the boxes will come out MUCH nicer. More than likely I'm going to go with black carpeting, just because I think it would look badass with a black false floor trunk.

The SDC2.5 12's are here, got some pics but yet to upload them. Will do that here in a few minutes. I have them on my EP2500 with gains set so they're only getting about 300-400 watts apiece, just so I can break them in, and I can already tell by running them for a few minutes free air, that they are going to be harder hitting for sure.

Box wise, I'm planning on going with two boxes, dimensions 16" H x 18" W x 18" D, port 14.5" H x 1" W x 12.75" L, still tuned to 35Hz a box with 2cuft net volume. Two boxes makes it easier to get them in and out of my car when necessary. Will let you know on any updates.

REDO! The box won't fit, and I don't feel like building the box in my car. Instead, I'm going to do separate boxes, false floor/trunk walls, LED's, etc.

Stuff with # already have, the rest is in the work and will be hopefully done in the next month, is my goal. I get to go to my dad's for 4 hours on Saturday's and Sunday's, so we'll probably work on as much as we can then, starting with speaker boxes, dynamat/sound deadening, false floor/walls, head unit, mid/high's, and possibly equalizer (still debating on if I'll need it). Will keep you all posted as I go along.

But for now, that old box is sitting in my room holding my AQ's while I break them in...

Nice! I'm pretty sure you can make a box to fit in there through the trunk opening just keep messing around with the numbers take and inch here add it there sort of thing.

I'm guessing the box is too tall and deep to go into the trunk? Try a height of 14" or something around there. And an absolute maximum of about 34" if width is a problem, but measure first.
