Hey guys,

I need advice.

Just blew my first sub a few days ago. I've gotta replace it with something, but I'm not sure what. Since I'm new to the bass life I need some advice.

I've got 1200w@2Ω available. So I'm thinking DC level 4 would be good, and it's in my price range too. I'm also looking at the Fi Q series, same price

and a direct competitor to the DC level 4. I'm leaning toward the DC level 4, but I'm not sure if I should swing for the 15 or if I should stick to the 12.

My trunk is only big enough to fit about 4.5cu ft. of box through the trunk opening. I figure 3.5cu ft. is a very doable size box and that would work

great for the Level 4 15 or a Fi Q 15 after displacement and all.

If I go with a twelve, obviously the box is smaller so that would be a plus. Also I would be able to add a second 12 down the road, but I'm not really

sure I want to do that, because it would take a lot of other upgrades. If I go with a 15, I'm pretty much stuck with one sub since there would be no

room for a box big enough for two 15s. I'd like to stick with one sub for now.

So say I go with the 15 (Fi or DC) I'd pretty much have to mount the sub with the cone up, because the trunk isn't very big. Would it hurt the system

to face the sub up toward the trunk lid? I'd only have about a 4-5 inch gap between the box and the trunk lid/rear shelf.

My options:

DC level 4 12

DC level 4 15

Fi Q 12

Fi Q 15

If I get 1 12 it'll be upgradable to two 12s later on, but I'd rather have one sub for now.

If I get one 15 it's a 15 so that's better than a 12, but no room for a second 15 later on.

I'm open to any advice you can give me guys, I'm all ears.

Thanks,

TheBetterMethod

The level 4 is awesome but will require a lot more power than that, even 1 12. for 1200RMS @ 2ohm I'd suggest 2 AQ HDC2.5's my brother is running one off a 1210D Hifonics @ 1000RMS and it handles it like its nothing. They're rated for 600RMS a piece but will yawn at that type of power, if not I'd suggest an AQ HDC3 15" as that much power will be better and that subwoofer can take a lot more if you want to upgrade in the future. Im no fanboy I run PSI and Fi but AQ has some incredible products for the price. and power wise I think youll be more happy.

Thanks for the input Sammitch0. Haha, now I'm also checking out that AQ 15.

Good prices, but the Fs of the HD3 15 seems kinda high. I'm not really looking for pure spl either.

I'd like a sub that will play music loud and clear and handle being played for an hour at a time.

Overheated coils killed my last sub. I don't want that to happen again.

Anybody else care to give their input?

That's what I figured. The Q is supposed to be the sq line from Fi anyway.

I've gotta be sure before I make a purchase.

The more opinions the better guys. Thanks TeamHT
