KickerKid58
I have a '97 Lincoln Continental with a stock 120A alt and a basic walmart battery that is only a few months old. I'm running 2 15" Kicker Comps on a Kicker ZX500.1 (500watts rms@2ohms) Amp seems to be going into protection on some of the really hard hitting notes when I try to crank it. If I rev the engine to about 2-3k rpm it bumps fine. so im guessing that im having some issues with voltage drop and my amp isnt likin it. I'm just wondering what would be the best way to help out my electrical system without droppn alot of coin I'm gonna do the big three in a week or so but idk if that'll be enough. ?? i have 4ga running to the back also my buddy gave me a new boss 2fa cap for free but from what im reading it sounds like id be better off gettn rid of it ?? 06 Jeep Grand Cherokee 2 DC Level4 12" Soundstream TA1.3000d 4 RF Punch 6.5" Components 2 RF Punch 3.5" 2-ways RF Prime 400.4D XS Power XP950 +&-run of XScorpion 1/0 OFC My Civic Build
MrSkippyJ
Do the big 3, get a good battery. Make sure your gain is set correctly, don't use any bass boost. should fix the problem. bassl0va
500 watts, hmm, I highly doubt that you have bad enough voltage drop. I'm guessing that the amp is cranked up and is clipping heaps, then it overheats and shuts off. Does it get hot? That would be my first guess too, not sure why I put it out of order in my post.
