Household Electrical wire as speaker wire?

i have a question.

as of right now, i'm using 12 awg electrical wire used in house wiring as speaker wire from my amp to the subs.

is this alrite to use or should i switch to just speaker wire.

i have speaker wire but not enough to run

I would switch, small gauge speaker wire can be had for pretty cheap per foot at your local car audio shop

ah, well i got 9 rolls of 12 gaguge electrical wiring for houses but they work.

i just want to know if it would damage or cause drops

or its safe to keep it the way it is

if its stranded yet u can, if its solid i wouldn't suggest it

i run house electrical wire for my speakers in workshop and subs in my truck

hell theres even a dude on here that cut up some old drop cordes and used that as wireing for his subs lol

to me, wire is wire, this may have alot of controversy but its all pritty much made the same, only with car speaker and power wire u have smaller and more strands in the wire vs home has fewer strands but bigger wire

its kinda like useing welding cable as power wire, it works but to each his own

what evers cheapest is what i use unless i can afford more

but as long as its stranded wire instead of solid u can use it, solid works but is not best and can break and hard to bend

oh and i heard like the different amp draw and high/low voltage is what some people tslk about but im not using it in place of a car audio power wire. just as speaker wire.

idk but to me its been working alot better and in the back of my head, i feel stronger about what im using.

My first system was cut up power cords. If your looking to save $$$ I'd say go head. Still id feel better using some good old speaker wire.

wire is wire yes, but just the look of house wire in a vehicle grinds my gears lol

saw some extension cords a few time, major facepalm

knu wire is the shit but when u aint got the monies drop cords do the job

i like useing low voltage 12guage oudside lighting wire for my sub wire cause its cheap in price and works pritty good imo
