LoudNLow931 Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 (edited) Ok So I'm having a really werid problem with my system... I was driving to get my oil changed and I was on the phone so I had my system turned down, After I got off the phone I turned it up and there was no bass. So i popped of the face plate and put it back on and I heard the amp click on then off, I pulled over and checked and the amp was in protect. So I took off the face plate and did what I had to do then went home. I get home and Im messing with it and the only was I could get the amp to stay on was if I put a song on that was already to the point that had bass,It has to be a CD,and it had to be above volume 40. So i did that and it played fine for a whole song, so i switched it over to my ipod and it worked fine still for a whole song, So i turned up the volume and it worked fine until I got to 50 then the amp cut off again. I usually listen to it at 55 volume and it was fine. So I popped off the face plate and put it back on and it worked fine with the ipod again until I went up to 50 volume. I check all my connections and everything it good and tight. Oh and BTW it was working Perfect 2 days ago and it has done this once before and it fixed its self... n8ball2013 Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 you could try letting it warm up and see if thats the issue. It sounds like you either got a coil on the way out launching it into protect or the amp is going to the big amp playground in the sky. When I had it playing I felt both of the subs and one felt to be hitting harder than the other one, Im going to pull them both out and check them out. The amp works fine at low volume but something is sending it into protect when I turn it up. Could it be the headunit? skittlesRgood Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 sorry, it wasnt a helpful comment, little out of it today. other than what n8 said, could be speaker wires touching or almost touching each other or metal. once they get enough power they ark out and the amp protects. could be as much as one strand of copper doing it. Nothing on the amp is touching but when I pull the subs out tomorrow I will check them out at the subs. n8ball2013 Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 one thing i had happen once before was I didnt secure a woofer lead into the terminal and it came out. After it started moving alot it would slap the basket and send the amp into protect. I thought I blew a woofer so I ended up missing a car show. Didnt pull the woofer til I got home and saw it. Quote THERE IS NO BUILD LOG! 1998 Chevy Silverado ext cab Alpine CDA-9887 4 Team Fi 15s 2 Ampere Audio TFE 8.0 2 Ampere Audio 150.4 3 Digital Designs CS6.5 component sets Dual Mechman 370XP Elite alternators inbound! 8 XS Power d3400 6 XS power d680 Second Skin Stinger Tsunami Wiring Sky High A Real Voltmeter not a piece of shit stinger.
LoudNLow931 Posted December 8, 2010 Author Report Posted December 8, 2010 Yeah the only connections I haven't checked are the wires connected into the subs and the RCAs connected into the HU. I'll check that out tomorrow and see if there's a problem with that. Quote 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 6.7l Cummins 4 FT1s C1600.2 8 PWX 8s ONX2.100 Audio Technix Wiring & Sound Deadener My Youtube Feedback
