DylanH
Alright, i'm at a loss as for whats wrong with my truck. I can only make it like 2 miles from home before it starts blowing out freezing cold air when the heat is cranked then the temperature gauge drops to freezing then shoots to overheating. We have changed the thermastat, filled it with antifreeze and it still does it. Has anyone else had this problem? Edit: It has a 3.0 liter v6 if that changes anything. http://www.youtube.c...er/SmallTownSPL 2002 Chevy Blazer Substage: Shhh, its a secret Mids and Highs: Stock-Going to change soon Amp:MTX 92001 Wire:1/0 Welding cable Electrical:Stock http://www.stevemead...__fromsearch__1 I hope she was meaning that to you. speeddemon0308
well it will take more then 2 min for any vehicle to warm up.. and your temp gauge going stupid its either the gauge itself or its a bad temp sensor.
Superjay
sounds like your heater core is going bad Principal JTech Consulting - Leader in 12-Volt Training and Product PlanningIt's not about how much power you have, but how well you use it
DylanH
well it will take more then 2 min for any vehicle to warm up.. and your temp gauge going stupid its either the gauge itself or its a bad temp sensor. I let it warm up for awhile in the morning, then drive it for a couple miles and it says its getting warm. Plus the first time it happened it started steaming/smoking I don't know what to call it. @Superjay is there any way to check if the heater core is going bad? One suggestion we got was take the spark plugs out one by one and see if any of them have antifreeze on them to see if its a bad head or head gasket. http://www.youtube.c...er/SmallTownSPL 2002 Chevy Blazer Substage: Shhh, its a secret Mids and Highs: Stock-Going to change soon Amp:MTX 92001 Wire:1/0 Welding cable Electrical:Stock http://www.stevemead...__fromsearch__1 I hope she was meaning that to you. Rebel4055
When you said it started steaming/smoking did it ever like bog out and die? Usually smoke/steam while you are driving usually means water/coolant got where it shouldn't have been. Check the oil for any signs of water and also check the spark plugs like someone said. DylanH
It didn't bog down at all, I pulled over immediatly though. Also the lid on the over flow tank was blown off so antifreeze got everywhere so thats more than likely what that was but it scared the crap out of me lol http://www.youtube.c...er/SmallTownSPL 2002 Chevy Blazer Substage: Shhh, its a secret Mids and Highs: Stock-Going to change soon Amp:MTX 92001 Wire:1/0 Welding cable Electrical:Stock http://www.stevemead...__fromsearch__1 I hope she was meaning that to you. JaM Customs aka mprete
does the heat get warm and then cold after you drive? or it never gets warm? the only problem with the heater core theory is that a block heater core wont cause the truck to over heat. i would start with checking your temp sensor cuz if the gauge is going up and down faster then the engine can physically cool and warm back up then that is probably that problem. unfortunately, it sounds like there might be a couple things wrong. has it overheated since you changed the thermostat? and did this start before or after you did the work to the truck? DylanH
This all started before we did any work on it, its still overheating but I normally catch it before it gets bad (im not driving it any more so I don't hurt it if its really bad.) and it got to about normal temp sometimes a little below then started dropping, lost all heat, then the temp gauge goes up and i still have no heat, let it cool for about 10 minutes and it runs fine. Also we were told to run it for awhile with the radiator cap off so we did. It got warm and I had hot air but all the sudden the heat got freezing cold but the heat gauge on the truck didn't move, then it started pouring antifreeze out of the radiator, I always made sure it was full before I drove it though. http://www.youtube.c...er/SmallTownSPL 2002 Chevy Blazer Substage: Shhh, its a secret Mids and Highs: Stock-Going to change soon Amp:MTX 92001 Wire:1/0 Welding cable Electrical:Stock http://www.stevemead...__fromsearch__1 I hope she was meaning that to you. Rebel4055
running the rad cap off probably didn't help the issue. The only time you run it off is if your refilling the rad to get the air bubbles out. Rest In Peace mother. DylanH
We were trying to do that. We were told it was an air lock and that running it without the radiator cap should fix it since theres no bleeder valve on the heater hose http://www.youtube.c...er/SmallTownSPL 2002 Chevy Blazer Substage: Shhh, its a secret Mids and Highs: Stock-Going to change soon Amp:MTX 92001 Wire:1/0 Welding cable Electrical:Stock http://www.stevemead...__fromsearch__1 I hope she was meaning that to you.
