Recommended Posts

Im wondering if i sold my 16v's and bought a d3100 would the d3100 outperform the 16v's? Just a question nobody here in missouri really has xs power so i have no first hand ability to compare...

it would probably explode

and why would that be? being that its all a 12v system??? the 16v batts have 12v posts and charge fine... Im just wondering if it would be better than both of the 16s

yes, the XS Power d3100 should have no problem walking all over the 2 kinetik 16 volts.

When using the 12volt studs on the 16volt kinetiks you are not even using all the batteries cells, so they are no where near being used to their full potential.

On top of that, those batteries usually have a tendency to go bad quickly due to the dual voltage design. Which has Eight 2volt cells wired in series to achieve 16volts, and when using the 12volt terminals you are using only Six of the 2volt cells. Which results in the last 2 cells for 16volts to never fully charge.

This is why you do not see XS Power making a 12/16volt battery.

Well thank you bassahaulic they seem to be working fine to me but... I think i would see an improvement anyway by what i've seen on here. I just dont know the real reason a xs is better than a kinetik supposedly. Plus 1 batt is lighter than the both of these so that'll help too haha.

Of course.

The issue is with the HC16's, the 12v is very weak, usually only floats 12.4v. And beyond that, all 16v batteries must be charged above 16v.

I think the 3100 will be better because the kinetiks are rated at 1600 max amps if i'm right and the xs 5000. As far as xs being better I've always liked my kinetiks never had any issues just the weight.

16 volt batteries need to charge at 18 volts to remain properly charged.

The kinetiks 1600 max amp rating does not even apply in this situation since the poster is only using the 12 volt side of the battery. So your maybe looking at 1200ish amps per kinetik 16volt, or 2400 amps total from both the batteries..
