Alex K Posted December 24, 2010 Report Posted December 24, 2010 isn't the DTR series rated to give full power @ 0.5 ohm? i think 1ohm would be fine for around ~800 watts It would be quite pointless to run at .5 at that little power honestly. It would work great at 1 ohm at 800w. He just needs to make sure that he sets the gains correctly with the DMM. I have he tutorial if he needs it. 2006 Nissan Z Track. My Feedback Thread i used to think a band pass was something you were around your neck or something.

OP should just use DMM 200a alt. by Excessive Amperage hc800 under hood & 2 Deka 9a31 in rear 1/0awg + big 3 SAZ 3000D HDC3 18" @ 2 ohm
fritosaregood Posted December 24, 2010 Report Posted December 24, 2010 uhh guys DMM? Set the dmm to ac volts, turn evreything down, then put gain up until it reaches 28 volts. Done. why did it take some long for someone to finally say the right answer.. just remember to disconnect the subs when you do this Anymore detail on how to do it? i have a dmm and stuff, and i'll disconnect the subs, hook the mm straight to the amp output? + to + and - to - ? then what? The math behind it is easy. you have and equation for power that is: P = V2/R, p is the power your setting it too, V is the AC voltage being produced, and R is the resistance(your final ohm load) you need to solve this equation for V so you now have: V2 = P * R So you want to do 800 rms at 1 ohm you have V2= 800 * 1, => V = sqrt(800) => V = 28.28volts now when you do this, have you sub woofer settings on your deck set to the highest level youll ever play it at, and the volume at about 75% unless you know where it starts to clip. Disconnect the sub, wire a DMM to the pos and neg of the amp. and play at test tone. Start off with the gain on the amp at min and work you way up till the DMM reads 28.28 volts. make sure the DMM is set to AC volts just to clarify, you have to put the dmm on the pos and neg to the sub right.... maybe a stupid question but there is 2 sets of pos and neg on my amp. 1 for power and ground and the other to the subs... You hook it up the the speaker output terminals on the amp seller feedback: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...showtopic=61719 http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...showtopic=68281 build log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/index.php?showtopic=44800 Gf's build: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/54346-kickergirls-camaro-new-box-pg-5/#entry753970

The multimeter act as a tiny load, That how a multimeter measures voltage from anything. Think of it like checking a batteries voltage that have just laying around. but if you hook a sub up to it, it will be loud for testing, and youll have voltage drop which will skew the results. seller feedback: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...showtopic=61719 http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...showtopic=68281 build log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/index.php?showtopic=44800 Gf's build: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/54346-kickergirls-camaro-new-box-pg-5/#entry753970
Winn Posted December 25, 2010 Report Posted December 25, 2010 Just a question do you need a test tone to set the gains? Cuz i cant find any test tones ANYWHERE You know how you avoid that? Man the fuck up and bang her best friend sister mom cousin worst enemy and never look back. JUST SAY ANTI-AUDIOPIPE

Wait a second walk me through the math on that, how did u get 28 volts? and why turn everything down? wouldn't i want to set everything to my maximum listening level, and then adjust the gain so that at the highest settings, it doesn't exceed 28 volts / 800 watts? oh lawd system: changes way to much...
