3 Questions bout my new HDD

Recommended Posts

Just bought a new WD 2TB Caviar Green internal HDD, it says its an advanced format drive and if Im running XP with multiple partitions I need their Align software, if I have XP with a single partition then I need a jumper. My current HDD has a partition for Windows but the new one wont have one (Just going to be for storage), so do I need the jumper or the software?

If I need the jumper, where do I place it? On top of the drive it says in the 7-8 spot but according to pics Ive found on google that seems to be the spot for it to be a master drive.

I pulled a jumper off of my old IDE Seagate hdd, will that cause any problems if I use it on this Sata WD?

EDIT: Got it figured out

first of all i take it that this drive is SATA. If so, you do not need to use the jumpers since there is no master/slave options, they are all cable select, or in other words set in the BIOS.
