Sucks too cuz I had an older Alpine 4v, motorized/detach face and I "upgraded" to make it ipod friendly and mp3 capable and noticed a considerable drop in output. Also-The 9856 has a TERRIBLE design for attaching/removing the faceplate. So much so that I generally leave it in there even knowing I shouldn't but I pretty much sit w/ in 20ft of my car and have sight of it too while at werk so less than worried. I'd Go with a kenwood or eclipse model personally. I've always loved Alpine but I wanna try a kenwood like the KDC-X891, or 991. Very nice units IMO. 991 has 512mb of ram too and fastest ipod connectivity out there. Dont ever use the loudness option with amplifiers it will send a clipped signal to your amps much quicker than normal and really do some damage!
