I ordered a mechman 270 amp alternator, an aq3500, and a couple of batteries from poundstone. and also took my backseats out to make room for a amp rack and battery box

AI James Posted July 23, 2011 Report Posted July 23, 2011 a 47 is pretty bad for the equipment involved, my SX in my explorer were alot louder then that. off 2krms. kinda sucks that its only like 42 across, all back would have been loud. but subs up and port back work great in that truck.
fecupe2001 Posted July 23, 2011 Report Posted July 23, 2011 Yes it does, i always try to keep my mouth shut because everybody seems to be offended by every comment or input we give, but 2 smaller subs can get WAY louder on a proper box, i don´t understand why people try using 2 18´s in a small trunk facing everything up instead of going with only 2 15´s instead with subs up/port back wich is way louder on the explorer, the explorer SUCK ass with everything facing the roof, i would try a way more efficient box with subs up/port back but i don´t think you can fit it in the trunk with back seats on. splxlt Posted July 23, 2011 Author Report Posted July 23, 2011 im doing sub up port back with 3 6" aeros on the new box. the dimensions are 18hx41.5wx32.5d double baffled. the old box we just threw it together it was my first box. as far as the score goes my voltage dropped to like 11 volts with the aq3500 so im upgrading electrical and better numbers to come

fecupe2001 Posted July 24, 2011 Report Posted July 24, 2011 Hey hommie, one question, if you ditched the back seat, why are you going with such a small port area? you have a lot of room now for a good box, i wouldn´t use anything smaller than 4 6´s on those subs, that would give you around 35 hz and very close to the internal space you have using 3 6" , that would give you mroe output, just my opinion, good luck with the new build, i´ll be tuned in for sure!
