bumonskateboard6 Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 (edited) Okay so going for a trunk build here just wanted some input before I built anything. My seats do not fold down in my Acura Tl so sealing off and firing forward isn't going to work very well...however I decided what about firing backwards and porting up through the rear deck. Here's some measurements and a google sketchup model of what I am talking about (not the best with sketchup). Let me know any ideas to improve or any concerns you have with it. Subs are 2 DC LVL4 12"s. EDIT Updated with all input so far, bracing will be more calculated as needed but shouldn't effect tuning much: Edited February 8, 2011 by bumonskateboard6 Quote Current Systems: 2011 BMW 335i Hertz HDP1 DC LVL3 12" Full Carbon Fiber 2002 Acura TlKenwood DNX9980HD2 DCLVL4 12" Subs with LVL5 Parts D.7 CoilsDC 3.5kHertz HSK-165 up front HCX-165 RearHertz HDP4 AmpDC Power Engineering 260 Amp AltBig 3 and amp powered with KNU 1/0XS Power D2400 Up Front i pulled out my dick in class many of times and had it shown. get over it bitch...stupid open legged hairy beavered bitch... going over rms = smaller box, under rms = bigger box... Low voltage doesn't blow amps. That's a myth. A router that does the sub holes makes rounded edges also?
Sanitarium Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 woah.. 3.81 square inches of port per cube? you must like the sound of a vacuume cleaner. Go with 9 mininum and that's only if you got flares (like an aero port) Quote

iKidwell Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 6 ports? how about like 1 6 inch aero or somethin and have it extend out of the box? Quote c'mon now, if i was shooting an 8 year old, it wouldnt be MY 8 year old. i recently got a Pyle PL1590BL and i was building an enclosure for it tuned to 25 hz. i didn't have any tools to cut a circle so i hit it with a big hammer. 2003 Infiniti G35 Sport Sedan Build in Progress

Decaf Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 woofer displacement is .36cuft ur likely going to need bracing also, so account for that aswell Quote
bumonskateboard6 Posted January 4, 2011 Author Report Posted January 4, 2011 Bump for updating original post to include new design, any more input? bumonskateboard6 Posted January 10, 2011 Author Report Posted January 10, 2011 Got started on building the box today... The port will be in the middle of the box to stop any phasing issues along with there already being a hole in my rear deck that fits it there. Pics of my work today so far for all you pic whores: First was tearing apart the car: Then a Bose 8" comparison to DC LVL2 8" Wood Cut (yes I know the double baffle for the front one is cut wrong) Saw all covered in MDF Dust First Corner: The top is on it as well but I was busy cleaning up and didn't snap a picture. bumonskateboard6 Posted January 28, 2011 Author Report Posted January 28, 2011 I'm pretty close to done with the box I was just thinking about something and had a quick question. If I install this subs back port up through rear deck am I going to have phasing issues, or should I seal off and face subs forward with the port still through the rear deck?
