How do crossovers affect impedance?

Recommended Posts

why don't you just test it with a dmm and see, if your amp is 2 ohm stable even if it does break it down it shouldn't really matter

1990 Jeep Cherokee 4X4

Pioneer DEH-P2900MP, Big 3 done in 1/0, 1 run 1/0 ran to amp

DAT HF1000.1 #007 powering a DC lvl4 15

DAT HR 4085 prototype powering 2 Selenium 6s and 2 no name tweeters running active

1st place in AS3 @ Surf City Sound Off, 140.8 @ 45hz @ the headrest.

rebuild coming soon to get a better score :)

Because I don't haven't ordered the speakers yet. Even though they are cheap, i don't want to spend the money and not know how they work. And even if i did have them, I don't have a DMM on hand. But I'm just wanting something that I can run at 2ohms, b/c the amp I'm gettin is 200w at 4 ohms, and 500w at 2ohms, and these drivers are 500w max. So I know that if I could find a component set to run @ 2ohms, I'd be set...and yes, i know these are a cheaper set of speakers, that are in the "well, they don't sound bad" category, but I'm puttin alot of money in bass, and I just wanted a little something extra in the mids and highs, without spending a fortune.

Your power ratings are out of whack. The amp will see approx 3.5ohms DCR per channel with one component set per channel (1 Mid and 1 tweet)

The crossover network is a different design for all component sets and you final impedqance is all freq dependant due to the RC, RL, and LC, and RLC netweork designs in any passive crossover on the market today.
