I have a Pioneer DEH4200UB and for some reason when I play a CD its not even half as loud as when I use my IPOD (ipod has no EQ settings on they're all off.) I dont use AUX so the ipod volume doesnt have any play in this. If I put in Put On or something on CD its loud but weak compared to if I played it off my IPOD. Is there anyway I can volume match the two? I have when a friend throws a CD in and it doesnt bump. I could of course just turn the volume up but I have my system tuned @ 58/63 on my HU so if I turned up the CD to 63 my shit sounds distorted.

I want to be able to turn my HU to 58 and have CD and IPOD play the same volume.

Does the head unit have SLA? (Source Level Adjustment)

If so, set everything up like you were going to tune your setup but don't change anything. Just put a cd in with the tone on it and adjust the source level for the cd until it matches up to your iPod. Or do the opposite, re-tune your system for the CD then adjust the iPod level down until it matches up.

I don't know if your HU has the option, but my Kenwood BT945U will allow you to change the offset of volumes between each source..pretty neat, but I do know what you're talking about..my CDs are not as loud, but that feature on my deck comes in handy.

You might want to read up in your manual and see if it has something similar.

Yes! I have SLA and never knew what it did!... SO basically I tune my whole system off the Realm of Excursion tone test on my IPOD. Once there dont touch anything, use the SAME tone on CD same volume etc. and change the SLA until the voltage output matches? and it'll be pretty similar? mmm ok awesome... Sounds like a pain in my ass but atleast I have a fix for it :D

Basically, yeah.

You're running 1500 at 1 ohm, so that is 38.72 volts then, or what ever you had it at.

You just play the same tone on a cd and go to the SLA menu, and turn up the CD source level until you get it as close to that number as you can without going over it, you should be good to go then.

So does IPOD and CD have its own SLA? Basically if you have the IPOD source on its 0 but if I changed it to say +2 and went to the CD source the CD SLA would still be at 0?

it should be that way. I can't find any info on the unit online or I'd know for a fact.

Edit: nevermind, i found it, checking the manual...

According to the manual each source has it's own SLA that can be accessed when you are using that source.
