please tell me my friend should just let me put his stuff in

Recommended Posts

I'm sure some people at best buy know what their doing, plus he will have a warranty if they mess something up.

Have you seen their installs? Their service is different by each store. I seen installs that they just used electrical tape for the HU wiring and just did a shitty job on the install.

Let your friend blow his money.

hehehhee, ive HAD to do this in my friends trunk since i dident use a harness since there was none, its not like it was a giant mess either, did manage to blow his fuse tho since apparently when i pulled the h/u the (back metal plate????) hit a piece of metal and shorted his parking lights out lmao, i also did it in mine, ive just been to lazy to go and soder everything, any other car ive done its been soldered and heat shrinked :)

it was an 88 gmc truck, piece of SHIT, wiring was done by previous owner and was back asswards, and nothing was labeled, i had to pull all the damn door speakers >.>

but @ the op he really should just let you do it, i mean if you trust YOURSELF then go ahead, hell if i dont trust my self for installing a single sub i wont, thats only if i dont feel good or w.e, but dont be like "oh yeah ill do it, i know what im doing" then get a blank stare when your staring at the 5000000 wires off a nav h/u, i wouldent trust my self to do a navi/touchscreen h/u on anyone elses car sept my own

if he wants to do it let him do it, but he should realize itll just be cheaper in the end for him

sorry for the long post :P

Why would you EVER WANT flex?
huh?...flex is what can make the lows lower and more air being pushed correct?

What is he installing?

I can give you the price right now that he would save by going with you!

2 FI ssd 10s in a sealed box

and an amp around 2000 watts

and hes getting a dd head unit with navagation and stuff so its a decent system hes going for sound quality so i assume his ssd 10s will be wire at a decent impedance

For that system this is the approx price:

Installation of subwoofer in box: (2) $20.00

Installation of a 2 channel or mono amp: $ 8 0.00

Head Unit Install w/parking break wire: $99.00

Shop Fee: $5.00

Any parts such as dash kit, wiring harness, antenna adaptor, wiring for the amp is all extra of course.

Just in install price he would save at the least $215.

Could be more but that's the prices we use at our store.

i also for got the power wire hes getting 4 gauge power wire and hes not sure what size speakers he has in his door but its an 06 mustang so by the looks of it just because its round im going to say there 6 1/2s but idk because in my taurus i thought i had 6 1/2s but they turned out to be 5x7s

Door speakers like that are $69.99 a pair to install.

I thought his impedance depended on his voicecoil configurations...

Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?

Actually, our installers at our store ROCK!

Our senior installer has been working with car audio for 15+ years. He knows a lot however best buy places restrictions on what he can do. No fiberglass or custom stuff.

Our second installer built competition systems in las vegas for a few years and has owned his own custom shop for years.

Does AK in your screen name stand for Alaska?

I've personally fixed many crappy installs done by bestbuy. Most recently had to redo a security system where the relay was run off of the dome lights. Well...guy hit the manual override on the dash turning off the dome lights...car was broken into in a theatre parking lot.

I don't think the worst of bestbuy installers, no different than someone reading a book and doing a 2 week class to work at w local shop still ripping people off.

It's his money...I'd let him waste it. You cab fix it later.

In no way does it stand for Alaska. I couldn't live up there. I hate the cold!

Feel sorry for that guy. Some stores get lucky with experienced installers and some don't.

Contact corporate about that. Let Best Buy know about things like that. If nobody speaks up then those installers stay there doing it over and over again.

Pretty sure we don't do the big 3.

It's all up to the installer. Some guys are pretty sweet and will do that for you if you provide the wiring.

Like I say, it's all about who's working in that install bay. Some people get lucky and get the really good guys and some customers get the installers fresh out of school and newly mecp certified.

Ha ha, just asking. Because I was about to say....LOL!

I hate snitching, but there's bad work in a lot of places and good work if you can find it. It is what it is. Doesn't bother me, because personally, as long as there are people screwing shit up I have business! Lol
