knowledge
hey guys. . . so one day, as i was reversing on my dark drive way i noticed that one of my reverse lights was out. usually even with both lights working it isnt that bright, so i figured that not only i needed new bulbs but i needed something brighter. so i figured i try some HID's to try to make them work with my reverse lights. i ordered some H11 6k's some stuff i used: -a Door Trim Removal Tool or Retainer Clip. -some 10g wire about 15 to 19ft -rubber adhesive -1 15a fuse -1 sheet of 8o grit sand paper -1 automotive relay -some zip ties -hot glue gun with 1 glue stick -self tapping screws and sta-kons - black tape my car is a 2007 mercury milan, now they dont make HID bulbs to fit in the reverse light housing of any car i believe. i have worked with many different HID bulbs in the past so i felt that an H11 6k bulbs was suitable for my application. you can use any bulb but most you have to shave off the little tabs on the side. i started by removing my battery and running some wire through an opening i found an the firewall and ran it to the trunk. knowledge
now i went a little bit ahead of my self and just wanted this done. wiring the relay. find a good spot to hide it, i just used a little dimple i found on the trunk lid. - the + wire i ran from the front to the trunk is getting connected to the 87 side of the relay. - the + wire from the ballast is going on terminal 30, and the ground from ballast can be put on the anywhere you choose on the trunk lid, make sure you use a piece of sand paper and sand off the paint were you put your ground. - 85 on the relay also needs to be grounded, i used the same ground for the ballast for terminal 85. - now the + from your factory reverse light needs to go on terminal 86. take out your bulb and you should see a ground and positive. in this case my + wire was green, what i did was splice into it and connected it to 86. here is what it should look like. i used a self tapping screw to hold it in place as well as my grounds. my ground witch i sanded By mres3 at 2010-12-19 By mres3 at 2010-12-19 By mres3 at 2010-12-19 find a good spot for the ballast, i just put mines behind the light.
