osamio
I have a soundstream DTR1700, I was hooking it up today, and then tuning the gains with a DMM, and all of the sudden it went into protect. It was fine, then started protecting, and now it does it immediately when i turn it on. I disconnected the RCA, there's no speakers attached, the polarity on the power is correct, the polarity of my remote wire is correct, the power and ground are not shorting, and there is nothing on the speaker outputs that could be causing a short... Any ideas what might be wrong or how to correct it? 2009 Cobalt LT Pioneer Headunit 2x Pioneer 6 1/2 (stock amp) 2x Pioneer 1" tweeters (stock amp) 2x Pioneer 6x9 (stock amp 4x Pioneer 6 1/2 Pioneer GM-6400F Soundstream DTR 1700 R.I.P 2x Champion series PRO 12" subs 0 AWG Big 3, Stinger SP1700 battery To come: New or repaired DTR!! EclipseChris
Open it up and look for black. Your saying that with only the power, ground, and remote connected it just goes into protect? i resolve to be a nicer moderator. Tercel build R.I.P. Eclipse build Old New V-Dub My feedback. Yes. And no, i don't think the DMM could've touch the heat sink, the entire tip of the probe was inside the speaker output. **Edit I was going to open it up, but it might be under warranty still, if it is under warranty could opening it up void it? 2009 Cobalt LT Pioneer Headunit 2x Pioneer 6 1/2 (stock amp) 2x Pioneer 1" tweeters (stock amp) 2x Pioneer 6x9 (stock amp 4x Pioneer 6 1/2 Pioneer GM-6400F Soundstream DTR 1700 R.I.P 2x Champion series PRO 12" subs 0 AWG Big 3, Stinger SP1700 battery To come: New or repaired DTR!! stephenes89
If the amps still under warranty send it back, broken seals will void the warranty. stephenes89
if you believe you can actually fix the amp, do what you do. i've just seen to many hard headed people (not saying you are) pop an amp open and destroy an easy fix. If you don't have any good experince with soldering, i suggest to not even bother. but as i said, do as you please. its not my equipment BIG STICK 2005 Chevy Malibu 3.5L v6 (Impound Status) (New) Hifonics Brutus BXI 2010D - Courtesy of Maxxonics (2) Kenwood KAC-8402 Amps for mids & Highs (ok for now..)
