Rection Posted January 24, 2011 Report Share Posted January 24, 2011 it helps strengthen for one. resin alone wont add any strength in the middle of a panel. the biggest reason people do it is to help with impedance, and it also reduces surface friction of the material which causes air to flow more freely and increase output. hardcore spl guys sand and wax the resin inside their enclosures, and it makes a difference. skittlesRgood Posted January 24, 2011 Report Share Posted January 24, 2011 wood is porous and breathes. using a layer of resin you can seal these pores. resin will also provide a smoother surface if you do it correctly. usually gains you a couple tenths. if you dont compete, dont worry about doing it.
