ok because im buying an xs battery as a primary and i have a pair of 0GA terminals that cover the entire battery terminal so i was wondering how is it possible to reconnect the original connections if the terminal is completely covered. i thought there was just more that went into recharging a primary battery than just a 0ga to the alt and another to a ground lol.

Here is how i did mine in the first few stages of my build. The stock alt wires and computer wires are still there, right on top of the amp wire (big red wire).

In most cases (like mine personally) you are REPLACING the original 3. But in some cases (like the ford focus) If you do not still have the stock terminals and wire the car wont start, so you must ADD onto, not replace.

adding vs replacing is pretty much a matter of personal preference, theres no right or wrong way when it comes to that.

ok this is what ill do, im going to pick this thread back up later because i have a test to study for. when i am done ill take a pick of the positive connector ( which looks like a damn brick with a ton of wires that are running from it) and post it up. i have an 08 tsx which is a MF to work on so we'll how it goes.

i always add on, except for the batt ground to chassis

wait so you just have 1 0ga to the alt and the original battery ground?

what made u think that? u know what the big 3 is, right? out of the 3 wires that get added/upgraded, the battery ground is the only one i replace, the others i leave in place and simply add the upgraded wires to the mix. make sense?

All i am saying it that in SOME cases there is a wrong way. Like the ford focus example i gave.

then all u want to do is make sure ur new terminals can accomodate all the wires that need to connect in to it. theres nothing difficult about it at all

yea, it all depends on the vehicle. If you leave the factory wiring you have more wire, which is less resistence, but may not look as cool. If you know where the wire begins and starts on each side, you can replace, but if you don't then I would leave it

so simply replacing the existing wires and battery terminals results in a no start situation? sounds to me like something isnt getting reconnected right that would cause that since all wire does is carry current and the terminal is simply the method of terminating said connection. thats interesting though.

It was a very new car, and it threw a trouble code the first time the car was started and kicked into limp mode. Which did not let the car start again. Shit like this is happening more and more often with the new computers.

Honda even has a setting that shuts off the alternator to save gas. Us bassheads are just getting screwed anymore.
