Just thought I'd post because i have never seen a pic online of this. Someone may be interested.This is what it looks like:The silver ring is the neo magnet and the top black ring is a aluminum shorting ring. this centers more energy in the gap from the neo and increases efficiency. the shortening ring keeps stray flux out to lower distortion and also wicks heat away from the coil.This mod for DD subs as said by DD center more energy around the pole piece allowing for greater efficiency. It also is supposed to tighten up the bass.Note: this does NOT increase power handling of woofer. if anything it would lower SPL due to the fact a higher motor force usually induces a higher reactive impedence thus you would need to wire lower to compensate.From my experience, it is definitely worth to buy this mod. Kevin at DD told me I may or may not notice the difference. I most definitely can notice the difference. It sounds extremely good in my opinion and is very musical yet punches you and gives you the SPL we all crave. He said it was better to have than not which is obviously why they have it. AMI CUSTOMS Posted February 2, 2012 Report Share Posted February 2, 2012 It increases the motor force, making a 3500 supercharged like a 9500 stock and a 9500 supercharged like a 95Z, well close to it in output. The supercharge option does increase output, been proven in tests from various people. So for the extra money, I agree it is a good option. When i had my dd 9500 10s, I REALLY wanted to upgrade them to supercharged 12s, but their quote gave me a big headache. LOL amazing company tho! When I got my subs and looked into the option there wasn't much info about it and no pictures at all of actual motor with mod. So just sharing the pic and more info for all. I actually got a pic this time of the motor so why not right?
