I don't know how it happened still but I checked out his computer. From the looks of it, when it landed, it landed on the VGA plug and forced the gfx card out of the pin. I am positive the motherboard needs to be replaced jsut because there is several pins that are fucked up. My question is on the graphics card. I only see 1 spot that seems to be effected, and it is just simply a connection is severed. I was thinking of just re-soldering the joint and calling it a day. I mean, if it works it keeps going. So there's no real lose I can see. What do you guys think? Here some pics. Now photbucket wanted to be a whore and not let me use their tools to crop the this picture so you could get a closer look. P4killer_ Posted February 13, 2014 Report Share Posted February 13, 2014 does it have dual dvi out? or hdmi or display port or vga.. try using another port idk why it wouldnt work.. as for that port.. you try re soldering that single pin. or even de solder the whole connector, and solder on a new one. you could prolly find one. easilly salvage one off a older card if thats a nice gpu.. as the for that pci-e slot you could try to bend everything back into shape worse case just use the black slot.. That PCI-e slot is donso, the clip on the one end is cracked off and took 2 pins with it. And ones on the other end are really messed up. I am refering the repair towards the graphics card, really hard to show what I am talking about without croping into the photo. Hell my gpu has 3 ports.. ONt he bottom of the face plate where it slides into place, that bent a little, and severed a connection right on the bottom to something on the board. P4killer_ Posted February 13, 2014 Report Share Posted February 13, 2014 only questionable pin is see is the one between the plastic pieces. To me it looks like pin in red. Brown is just the header mount imo.. Id look at the back of the board to see if its obvious which pin it is. otherwise you should be able to tell. break away some of the plastic if you have to. Desolder from the back to clear the mounting pad. if you can manage to get the pin to stick back through and resolder great but not likely. you could either solder directly to the pin and wrap around the board to that pad. or strip wire and try to feed it through the hole solder to the pin and then solder to the pad. you need a good look at both faces of the pcb to make sure the connection is good. it might be connecting to a trace on the front side of the pcb. lol it more than likely is duh.. but make sure that trace is still good and not chipped up too. remove the bracket if you can.. but i dont see why you couldnt get it done. P4killer_ Posted February 13, 2014 Report Share Posted February 13, 2014 its gonna be hard to really make sure the trace didtnt get chipped off or w.e with the header in the way... i mean it would likey make only that one port not work right. i would say whats the worst that could happen by powering up and seeing what happens with the other header... but in saying that itll catch on fire or something..
