ISO
I have been thinking about doing a build log for awhile. Well I figured hell why not! I talked to Ole'dude and he said if I do one make sure there are alot of pics. Well I've got that covered. This thread is for my love of my 20 year old Chevy K3500 pickup truck. I'll start with some of the previous installs then I get into the build I'm working on now. I'm not sure exactly what I'm going to end up with but it'll be fun and who knows, maybe it will actually play music. The subject for the experiment Unfortunetly there was a little fender bender last winter so the front of my truck isn't quite as pretty as it used to be. LOL My mids and tweets. I installed these 3 years ago and they were supposed to have been temporary. Well hell 3 years later I'm finally mak'in my change. LOL The mids and tweets are the only thing that didn't get changed in any of my installs. Isobaric - Refers to the practice of coupling two drivers together to make them act as one. ISO
Kicker ZR1000 install. 23 inch long amp. I did this install just for fun. I had to test the amp out. I actually like this one but it just wasn't loud enough for me and DAMN its wild to watch the crazy current drops a 1000 watt Class A/B amp will have. I was actually afraid I was going to stall out at a stop light acouple of times. LOL Isobaric - Refers to the practice of coupling two drivers together to make them act as one. ISO
RF 1501BD install and the system that I ran the longest. RF Punch 225.2 on the mids and tweets. I never thought I would ever have a sub amp (1501BD) that ran ice fucking cold at all times. Well that amp loved being mounted like that. Phoenix gold line driver. This really turned out to be a great addition to my system. 1997 Punch 225.2 Over all pics Isobaric - Refers to the practice of coupling two drivers together to make them act as one. ISO
Well I started hearing all this good shit about some company called Sundown Audio. Well I thought if this stuff is so great, I guess I need to try it out. Well I decided to start with their class A/B amp the SAX-100.2 and it really did turn out to be a great sounding amp in my set up. I really felt that this amp did a much better job on my mids and tweets than the Punch 225.2. I will most likely be getting one of their sub amps but I'm haveing a real hard time thinking about leaving RF BD amps. So I don't know yet. The new amp brought on another incarnation. I'm just showing all the little changes I have made to the truck. None of these installs were ever installed with the thought of being permanant. I have the truck stripped now and getting it ready to have a more permanant install that should look alot cleaner. Hell leave all the comments anybody wants to good or bad. ISO
Well thats it for the past, on to the now. I really want to do a cut through, but I can't do that just yet. The new install I will be running: Changes as of 04/05/2009 Alpine H/U, CDA-9856 3 10 inch 2006 Kicker L7s on the back wall. A Rockford Fosgate 1501BD amp. A nice 1600 watts is all I think I need. Phoenix Gold TLD22 Line Driver for the 1501BD. Phoenix Gold RSD 6in component set and before its all said and done I might be adding a second set. Not yet and I may still change to something different. Sundown Audio SAX-100.2 Lightning Audio/RF CPCC1 50 Farad Cap. I had no love for capacitors untill I got my fingers on this thing. So I'm making this install a little harder just to keep this thing in my system. For now I decided to leave this item out for awhile. Of course my electrical hasn't changed much in the last couple of years. The Big 3 out of Stinger 1/0. Stinger Power2 SP1000. Now I'm running a PowerMaster D2400 as my starter battery and is the only battery in my system. Rebuilt stock alt bumped up to the 85/140 amp option. I have upraded to a MechMan Rhino Series 250 amp alternator with the adjustable voltage option. Missing Link Module. This is a great little piece of equipment. My new Alt came with an adjustable voltage regulator built in so I removed the MLA module because there was no need for it with my new alternator. (I do still believe that the MLA modules are great pieces of equipment to use in most applications and worked great for me when I used it with my stock alternator. Since my new alt has a built in adjustable voltage regulator or the option to use the factory plug I didn't need the MLA Module anymore, but I still stand behind their product 100% when the install will benefit from useing it.) Any wiring and accesories are all Stinger. I'm already 1/3 of the way through this install. I figured before I got to far into it I should start a build log. This time around I'm going to fix alot of the problems a 20 year old truck has becuase I'm not giving up on my truck until the frame snaps. I have plenty of pics of the new build already I just don't have them downloaded yet and not sure if I will do much more tonight.
