Just get some of your big friends and get them to sit in the back seat. As you add people on top of other people, measure the drop that you get over your back axle. If you build it right, you will notice a difference. And.... you have a mustang. It is meant to be a sports car, not to carry lots of weight. My Astro (that is meant to hold some weight) dropped 2-2.25" over the rear end. Box and equipment prob. weighs over half a ton. I thought it drove bad before.... phew. Just some things to think about.

Sure. The way I see it, the amp doesn't have to work as hard if you give it less to do (fewer frequencies to worry with). That may be totally off, but maybe not. Also, you don't loose wattage in your passive crossover while it does its job. I don't even have any passive crossovers anymore. Everything is active xover and every speaker gets its own channel on an amp. That gives me much more flexibility and ease of tuning. It makes it easier to dial in what frequency you want your tweets, mids, and bass to be cut off at (it does make for lots of damn amps though). Then the amp only has to amplify what it gets from the Active Crossover. It sounds cleaner to me the way my setup is now than it was before. The scary part though- this is getting to be the old school way of doing it. Look at Steve and the Car computer and the 360s and whatnot. He can dial that ish in from the driver's seat. Wootie!

I would say you killed it. They aren't meant to run at less than 1 ohm.
-
Yep. Active blocks the frequencies at the RCAs or before your amp puts it out of the speaker Terminals Passive takes the signal already out of the Amp's speaker output and then does the xover.

That is pretty wild bro!

ONLY A MAN WOULD ATTEMPT THIS Just try reading this without laughing till you cry!!! Pocket Tazer Stun Gun, a great gift for the wife. A guy who purchased his lovely wife a pocket Tazer for their anniversary submitted this: Last weekend I saw something at Larry's Pistol & Pawn Shop that sparked my interest. The occasion was our 15th anniversary and I was looking for a little something extra for my wife Julie. What I came across was a 100,000-volt, pocket/purse- sized tazer. The effects of the tazer were supposed to be short lived, with no long-term adverse affect on your assailant, allowing her adequate time to retreat to safety....?? WAY TOO COOL! Long story short, I bought the device and brought it home. I loaded two AAA batteries in the darn thing and pushed the button. Nothing! I was disappointed. I learned, however, that if I pushed the button and pressed it against a metal surface at the same time; I'd get the blue arc of electricity darting back and forth between the prongs. AWESOME!!! Unfortunately, I have yet to explain to Julie what that burn spot is on the face of her microwave. Okay, so I was home alone with this new toy, thinking to myself that it couldn't be all that bad with only two triple-A batteries, right? There I sat in my recliner, my cat Gracie looking on intently (trusting little soul) while I was reading the directions and thinking that I really needed to try this thing out on a flesh & blood moving target. I must admit I thought about zapping Gracie (for a fraction of a second) and thought better of it. She is such a sweet cat. But, if I was going to give this thing to my wife to protect herself against a mugger, I did want some assurance that it would work as advertised. Am I wrong? So, there I sat in a pair of shorts and a tank top with my reading glasses perched delicately on the bridge of my nose, directions in one hand, and tazer in another. The directions said that a one-second burst would shock and disorient your assailant; a two-second burst was supposed to cause muscle spasms and a major loss of bodily control; a three-second burst would purportedly make your assailant flop on the ground like a fish out of water. Any burst longer than three seconds would be wasting the batteries. All the while I'm looking at this little device measuring about 5" long, less than 3/4 inch in circumference; pretty cute really and (loaded with two itsy, bitsy triple-A batteries) thinking to myself, 'no possible way!' What happened next is almost beyond description, but I'll do my best...? I'm sitting there alone, Gracie looking on with her head cocked to one side as to say, 'don't do it dipshit,' reasoning that a one second burst from such a tiny little ole thing couldn't hurt all that bad. I decided to give myself a one second burst just for heck of it. I touched the prongs to my naked thigh, pushed the button, and . . HOLY MOTHER OF GOD . . WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION . . . WHAT THE HELL!!! I'm pretty sure Jessie Ventura ran in through the side door, picked me up in the recliner, then body slammed us both on the carpet, over and over and over again. I vaguely recall waking up on my side in the fetal position, with tears in my eyes, body soaking wet, both nipples on fire, testicles nowhere to be found, with my left arm tucked under my body in the oddest position, and tingling in my legs? The cat was making meowing sounds I had never heard before, clinging to a picture frame hanging above the fireplace, obviously in an attempt to avoid getting slammed by my body flopping all over the living room. Note: If you ever feel compelled to 'mug' yourself with a tazer, one note of caution: there is no such thing as a one second burst when you zap yourself! You will not let go of that thing until it is dislodged from your hand by a violent thrashing about on the floor.. A three second burst would be considered conservative? IT HURT LIKE HELL!!! A minute or so later (I can't be sure, as time was a relative thing at that point), I collected my wits (what little I had left), sat up and surveyed the landscape. My bent reading glasses were on the mantel of the fireplace. The recliner was upside down and about 8 feet or so from where it originally was. My triceps, right thigh and both nipples were still twitching. My face felt like it had been shot up with Novocain, and my bottom lip weighed 88 lbs. I had no control over the drooling. Apparently I pooped on myself, but was too numb to know for sure and my sense of smell was gone. I saw a faint smoke cloud above my head which I believe came from my hair. I'm still looking for my nuts and I'm offering a significant reward for their safe return! P.S... My wife, can't stop laughing about my experience, loved the gift, and now regularly threatens me with it! If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!

WHAT!?!?!?! I seriously thought that was a crash test dummy falling from the ceiling!

X2 on the bolts! Big big bolts. If you have places where there were seats, then mount them to that, because you have to figure that if the car company made the seats strong enough to stay in place during a crash, then they would be a good place to mount your box. Then do any overkill you need to do past that- seeing that a box will weigh more than a person+seat combo. On my build: See the places on the floor with no carpet- the painted white parts? That is where the seats mount... One of the bolts. Before I was done, I took these tiny things out and put in more bolts that were bigger. No sense in making it through a car crash and then getting killed by your sub or box. It would give a bad name to us all.....

Of those choices, I would go with the port to one side for the reasons stated above. ...but if it were me, I would have two ports, half the size, on either side. But that is just my OCD kicking in.

That's me too. I love the loud and the 3 shows I have ever really been to.... but I like the building it and constantly tweaking on it. I guess it is because I just don't get bored with it. Oh... It is daily, but isn't the daily driver. Ya kno? It could be if it had to be. Basically, it is the backup vehicle.

I have been doing a bit of web surfing on this and I know that some years of the Pontiac Fiero and some of the Mazda Miatas had speakers in the headrests. Some of the reviews I have read have seemed to yield good results- the only problem is, they aren't reviews from Audio Fanatics. More or less, they are just regular Joes who say "yeah! it sounds good now!". So- I want real audio junkie thoughts... What I want to know is if anyone here has done this or sat in a seat like this that is already in a vehicle with a system. I am very curious to see what would happen if I did this. If I did this, I would prob. get speakers somewhere in the 3" range that were "one way" mids. Pretty much would be working midrange and vocals in the 125-4,000 hz range- don't need tweeters screaming directly into my ears. I would get 4 of them, 4 ohms each, to wire them to an 8 ohm load on left and right on my available amp. 8 ohms = less wattage and cleaner sound on my amps. Then I could put an L-Pad in there to attenuate them if needed to match them to the rest of the system to my liking. I also have 4 Aura Bass Shakers that I could mount directly in the seats while I was at it. They are mounted to the floor under the seats right now, but what they put out mostly gets lost while driving or while the bass is up anywhere north of "off". LOL. Put two of those in each seat too... maybe one by the butt and another mid-back. Any opinions? What do you guys think???

Cool Stuff! Yeah, I think www.partsexpress.com has those right now for $33 each! I have that same speaker- one in each of my doors, but they are on active high pass right now. Maybe I put them back to the bass. People see them and are like: "You are going to blow that little speaker..." ...nope, don't think so. Really tight speaker, especially when you put it into the right box for the right application as you have sir. Good work!

I have Sirius but not the Stiletto 2. My buddy has the Stiletto 1 and he likes it well enough. The only issue is his broadcasts a pretty weak signal and he gets poor reception sometimes. If it has a direct output and you have an aux in to your HU, then that is the way to go. I love Sirius. I pretty much bump around from Talk Radio, the Elvis channel, The comedy Channels, Alternative and some rap. But more or less- you can find what you want to listen to on Sirius.
